Would love to hear what everyone likes to get in their first messages. With so many people on here and so many messages being exchanged, what tickles your fancy and makes you want to reply back?

I like when people beg and grovel and tell me how fantastic I am.......

Although, I don't get very many like that,,,,

Depends on the person and their personality/humour/wit etc.

It's not a one size fits all kinda deal

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Although I say I don't like one-liners very occasionally I get one that is amusing.

I like a message light on waffle and fake flattery, short and witty.

My favourite of all time, when I started out on another site, said "The computer says that you are 0km from me. I've just looked out of the window and I can't see you". Corny and cheeky but accompanied with a lovely non sexual picture.

I guess that's the challenge with a first message, how much about their personality etc can you tell from a few lines?

My first message that made me grin was a short intro name, etc and then 'I hope I'm not too hairy ' made me chuckle and proved he read my profile. We met a week later x

Should have qualified the question, "what is the perfect first message if you look a bit like Jack Duckworth!"

Just hello here are my pics ! If there is an attraction then I'll message back and the real chat can start ! I hate complex first messages as its a waste of time for the guy unless he is my type

He had minimal fair chest hair, think he thought I meant fully waxed blokes. Lol.

Titz Towers, North Notts

One that shows they have read your profile and are realistic about their chances of a meet. Ie, they are what you are looking for or close, not closer to Tanganyika than to me and aren't only free every second Thursday at 2PM in Tesco car park. Humour helps, too
