why? It was a deep clean to save me getting gum disease

Just didn't realise I'd need an injection

Mine would have needed nothing more than a very small filling if the dentist had taken note of my complaints about it being sensitive two years before, and then every 6 months. There was no indication on the outside of the tooth but it was decaying inside.

Never trust someone who wants you to pay them to put their tool in your mouth.

Perhaps you'd care for an alternative provider?

If I'm not mistaken, administering an injection without consent to anyone not detained/sectioned under the Mental Health Act, or to an unconscious patient whose life is in danger, is a serious criminal assault.

It might be an idea to point this information out to your dentist for future reference: http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Consent-to-treatment/Pages/How-does-it-work.aspx

This is kinda what happened to me, 2 check ups this year and told him it felt a bit odd and he said couldn't see anything wrong then 2 weeks ago I was in pain and it turns out (After he bothered to X-ray it this time) that I had a fracture inside the tooth and the nerve was rotten! Ouch! It's gone now tho. Gotta say root canal didn't hurt but the sensation made me feel quite queasy!!
