I said this on the thread last night, I think its a tad naive of people not to think about possible press being on here. Socials where play is gonna happen are always better at swinging clubs in my opinion. |

Does this mean I'm going to get papped by the Paparazzi at the Social? Do we get a red carpet and can someone tell me my best side? |

but play isnt 'bound' to happen at socials.
ave been to plenty where its never happened, and a few where it has.
to us a social is just that, and play isnt expected to happen.
have been a little put off when it has and its hardly the right setting ,but some just cant control their sense of lust for others. |

"if people play at socials when they shouldn't, it is going to attract attention: especially in a Conservative club "
If people take the time to read this article carefully you will see that NOTHING happened.
Only hear say from posts taken from fab.

The fact that if something happened or not does not concern me in the slightest.
What is slightly alarming is the fact that Fab Swingers made the front page website of a respected Broadsheet newspaper!!!!
Now, I don't know about you but discretion of what I get up to in my personal life is of paramount importance to myself.
As the saying goes. We have a stranger in out midst!! |

The Mail are giving away a free Kindle with all online subscriptions to their online paper.
What if the Telegraph did free FAB sub's with all online subscriptions.
This place would go rather posh, rather quickly, wot wot |

"wonder if the ramblers association had booked the venue and the same evening panned out ...would this have been deemed newsworthy ?"
i would imagine if illicit sexual goings on were happening in a local club, thats not of that variety, it would be local news, which is where these have picked it up from.
as said, the clubs owners have said nothing went on, however, the posts on the forum that have been highlighted tell a different story, so its up to those reading to believe what they want, and as i said before, having been to a few socials, i can beleive some people couldnt control themselves |

Anyone can nick a pic from any site on the net if they really wanted to as there are plenty of ways to do it.... so I am not sure why anyone would think it is a site security issue....it is more a net issue.

thats why for the newcastle socials there is normally a stern warning asking people not to play in public venues....
"loose lips" sink ships......
as flirtatious as something may sound, think before writing as it may give people the wrong impression...
It makes me cringe at times as it leads some on to think that "social" is some kind of codeword for "orgy".... |

We have blocked the link being sent through the site since this looks largely like a scam that is going to charge people for access to "check" if their photos are there.
*** Common net sense indicates you shouldn't upload anything to any site on the internet that you'd be upset if it ended up elsewhere ***
We can assure people that there has been no breach of privacy on the site, i.e. if you've marked a photo as private the only people who have seen it are those you've PM'd it to. Ditto with friend pics.
No mods can see private pictures, only Admin.

What you have been told is wrong.
We have been at Fab since 2008 and since we took ownership none of our servers have been hacked. These were watermarked photos taken from profiles or shared with the idiot who posted them. As we say each time something like this happens... Please do not share on Fab (or any site) content which you would be upset if someone misuses . This is internet common sense

No, just someone who is friends requesting, and gaining peoples trust to get access to their pictures.I have to say, when someone got into my account, admin acted very very quickly and helped me a great deal. Whilst its a real shitty thing to do, I also believe that people need to take ownership of their own actions and not give too much information and access to their pictures too easily, I also understand on a site like this its easily said than done. I said earlier in the thread to think all people have good intentions and are nice and are who they say they are is very naive. Its not the first social to be targeted and it wont be the last, as not the first time pics have been put on another website without permission.
The internet is the problem as a whole, you just have to accept that some people use it for devious means and adjust stuff accordingly. |

The story is the same as the Wales Online one but now it's national.
The only "meat" to the story is that it has been discussed on here. The factual bits, as much as they can be, are that there is no evidence of any public play and no evidence of a fight. Some people were fruitier in their language and the suggestions for games were suggestive.
To the journalists reading these posts please try and do some proper journalism and not repeat a badly written thin story that has little of public relevance or interest.

I think you have a valid point to a degree but you fail to address the greater issue here.
That being, that Fab Swingers has made a national Broadsheet newspaper. That means undue attention from all sorts and people asking questions.
Now each to their own but the less people ask and the less people know suits me perfectly.
Ten points for analysis and deconstruction though |

Yeah right!
Like the Tories and their media lackies are so far above all that smut. We'll hear them harping on about morals, dignity and family values right up until another senior party member either gets caught cheating with a maid or snuffs himself in a bizarre accident - most likely involving an orange or something.
And then suddenly, like the flick of a switch, they'll all be crowing about respecting personal privacy and individual lifestyle choices and "oh wasn't he such a decent chap - what a loss to the country". What a bunch of fucking hypocrits!

Fab being in a national broadsheet isn't the major issue for me. If it opens up opportunities for someone who didn't know that this was possible is a good thing.
Fab being in a national broadsheet for a nothing story is more of a worry: a national broadsheet publishing a nothing story is an unacceptable level of dumbing down. |

No one wants any of their images or text stolen and used by someone else but it happens. It is published material and just as songs still in copyright get used, books get photocopied etc. the same happens on the Net.

Just to clear a couple of points up.
As regular social-goers in South Wales, we know many of those that were at this social.
There was NO fighting, or playing on Saturday.
In over four years, we have been to loads of socials, probably over 30, and we have seen more sexual behaviour, and violence, in the walk to and from the socials than we ever have at any social.
Yes, in the past, at one or two socials, we cannot deny there have been raised voices and a bit of push and shove, or indeed a little bit of people sneaking off to a hidden corner for a bit of a grope, but then thats common at any type of gathering, people will have a drink and misbehave.
We feel safer, and more at ease, at swinging socials than we do when pubbing and clubbing in places like Cardiff, Swansea etc.
Even the venue staff from Saturday confirmed that, after checking CCTV, there was no inappropriate behaviour of any kind on Saturday, and no complaints from non-attendees who were using the rest of the building.
I guess it was just a "no news" day, and they needed something to fill the pages lol! |

"Very very interesting article about Fab swingers on The Daily Telegraph website today. Worth a read.
Opinions welcome

It must be a quiet news week for them I think the majority of the general public won't give a fuck. One or two stuffy conservatives are miffed though by the looks of it. |

Ive just seen this on the daily mail website* too so the story is spreading.
To be fair though anyone reading it can see its a total non story as they directly quote the conservative club who say they have checked with staff and the cctv and there was no bad behaviour or raunchy stuff going on, it was literally a private function that just happened to be arranged via a swingers website, total non story!
*disclaimer I only read the showbiz section down the side of the daily mail website. |

Just to add some context to this.
We had around 100 extra people join the site yesterday after this was in the news (on top of the 1000+ who join every "usual" day). Having been in the news before, most of those people probably won't even log on again.
To put that 100 in context, every day well in excess of 100,000+ registered account holders use the site .

It really reads as a rubbish story and really, front page, there must be so little going on it the world right now that a non-event such as this makes headlines.
I am however impressed that 100,000 people use this site daily .. That is news worthy. |

Nothing went on at all that night, I can personally vouch for that. No playing and no fighting. No one more scantily clad than in any other pub or club in the town. Fact is the public associate Conservatives with kink and so it made a titillating story. It was a bullshit account, made by a local hack who is obsessed by sex topics. And he has got what he aimed for, national recognition. Most of the papers cover this story including the so called serious ones and they are all repeating the hear say without any attempt to check its authenticity. Newspapers as a source of serious journalism is a thing of the past. Thy are all on sliding sales figures and have now abandoned journalistic integrity and joined the entertainment industry. RIP Newspaper industry. |
