"Is it just for you cheeky or do you have guests ?
My parents and a few others "
Ah better be a bit keen then! Maybe Friday night do the shopping then you have a few days to prep as much as you can. I think this year, the only thing we are cooking on Christmas day are the roast potatoes and the gravy. I'll be cooking and freezing / chilling everything else in advance. Less hassle ! |

I have already bought some of the food and drink for eating and drinking on Christmas and Boxing Day.
I shall do my big shop on Thursday, as the duck will need to be marinated for a few days. This will also give myself a few more shopping days in case I miss anything.

Late night when life and limb are not in danger. I witnessed a Tescos shop assistant tell one of her colleagues that some one had run into with a trolly and not even apologised earlier this week. You can't beat that christmas spirit .... |

Meat ordered to collect before I go to the Hairdessers on Christmas Eve. Will then go to grteengrocers for fresh veg.
For me it's another meal, I'm used to cooking 7 course meals with accompanying wines, so to me it's a normal Sunday Roast. I cannot comprehend why people get so freaked out by a meal |

On Christmas Day, as soon as I get up, I shall make a Bucks Fizz with Asti as I do not like champagne.
I shall then make some snacks in the form of (a) prawns on sesame and poppy seeds thins, topped with a home-made Marie Rose sauce and lumpfish caviar; and (b) smoked salmon with a dill sauce made with crème fraiche and mayo, and topped with lumpfish caviar.
Starter will be a baked mini garlic infused camerbert with toasted ciabatta.
Main course will be a roast duck, marinated with a marinade made out 5-spice powder, garlic, ginger, light soya sauce, freshly ground black pepper and a dash of oil, to be served with a spicy tangy plum sauce, with roasted parsnips, potato and stir-fried vegetables.
Cheeses and crackers to follow, with Roquefort and Époisses or Camembert.
Dessert will be my home-made Tiramisu or chocolate mousse.
To be washed down with red wine, port with the cheese, and a cocktail or two with the dessert.
On Boxing Day, I shall have a nice steak dinner.
Leftover duck will be made into a fried rice dish, and duck noodle soup.
I love this time of the year.

"Is all this in your tent?"
.
No, as I have cancelled the camping trip over Christmas and volunteered to work a full day on Fri 27 Dec, in order to let the younger ones in the team who are travelling some distance to visit their families to have that day off.
On the upside, I shall be at home and be able to use the kitchen to cook up some lovely meals. |

I don't, as I just buy enough for the week as per usual, plus some seasonal treats.
I do not cook a roast dinner very often being on my own, therefore, having a duck on Christmas Day will be a treat.

Someone said previously that rice is dangerous re-heated; is that true???"
Yes it was me.. If the rice is cooked and not cooled quickly then the bacteria present can cause shits and vomit. as read on the NHS pages |
