Do you ever wonder while you are happily typi ng away on the keyboard, why the chap who invented the typewriter actually chose to put the letters in the order that they are now.

The keyboard is an amazing tool, and i often think, i wonder if he had pput the E here, lol

Or is that just me thinking too much again????

It was made that way so the most common letters were the most easily accessed by the typist or so i am told.

I think god did a far better job though designing the female form though

The reaason the keyboard is set out this way is, so the most commonly used letters are split between both sides of the keyboard enabeling you to type using both hands and type faster.

That's what I was told at secretarial college! xx

It's like that because all the common letters had to be split so that they wouldn't get jammed due to the design of the original typewriters

When i learnt to type we had the big old fashioned typewriters where the keys where about 2inches in the air. Was really hard work your fingers used to ache. Also i have no use in one of my fingers so it was worse. Im still a touch typist but nothing like i was back then

its for touch typists as you learn without being able to see the keys

middle row asdf left hand ;lkj right hand and work it from there, i would hate to think how many keys i have pressed over the ??? years I have been typing. dont see touch typists much now but if i look at my keys i will make a mistake and have to use all my fingers, now my mate who is a sec as well only uses one or two fingers of each hand and has to look at keyboard, too much hard work that lolol

A pro po of nothing the longest word you can write with just the left hand as a touch typist is Stewardesses and the longest one with the right is lollipop. And of course you can write typewriter with the top row of keys.

Actually that is the exactly wrong reason, the qwerty keyboard is laid out the way it is to SLOW down the speed that it was possible to type at.

The reason for this was because typewriters were mechanical and if typists typed too fast the letters would jam.

If you want to use the fastest keyboard layout check out and download

“Dvorak keyboard layout”

Its easier that qwerty to use, takes very little time to learn or convert to and will improve your typing speed beyond your wildest dreams.

If you are in any way sceptical google it and find out for yourselves, also the downloads are free so all you have to do is stick some labels on your keyboard (ebay sell them for about £2) or buy a new keyboard (ebay sell them for about £40)
