I never understand why some people get irate over some discussions. It's a forum. For discussion.
Why are we supposedly not allowed to discuss some subjects?
I have opinions on some things. If I want to discuss them I will.
I have changed my opinion on lots of things since being on here. I have read both sides of arguments and made my own mind up.
If we're not allowed to have an opinion... or discuss anything... then....
Won't we all just be mindless sheep??!  |

Using a phrase I nicked from someone on here:
I would love to agree with some people but then we'd all be wrong. 
I got all my angry posting out of my system when I posted on pagan forums. Compared to those the posts on here are pretty tame. However I will post my opinion and then move on, because I know someone (maybe everyone!) will disagree with me and that's fine. But I am unlikely to change the way I think because someone flames me on a forum. |

There are times when an honest and profound opinion will possibly have an impact, but usually the fun is in the debate not the answer.
Don't actually have a fixed opinion on many topics discussed, as I mostly live by the rule of do what you want but try not to harm others in the process, on those subjects I do hold a firm opinion it would probably not be changed by a forum post. |

There are those who fail to understand that an intellectual discussion is not furthered by attacking the poster rather than tackling the post. Much of the time my opinions are based on fact, knowledge or some kind of experience. Does that make my opinion mean more? Only to me. |

There will always always be someone who has a differing opinion .... I can just about cope with that 
I do have a disliking for the ones who agree and disagree to follow a 'crowd' so to speak.

the ego is too fragile for some, so having to audacity to counter-point people and disagree sends them into "victim" mode rather quickly...
to be honest this forum is tame.. you should see my american universitites message board.... that is like a proper zoo... |

I chat in various forums related to other things i do and without doubt this one is the worse for moderators.
supposedly an adult site,if you have an opinion different than a mods its deleted.
its like Kim jong un is at the helm.
this post will get deleted as no one is allowed to critique the masters. |

I can't comment. I rarely hold strong opinions or give voice to them.
*cough*
I like a reasoned debate. Failing that an argument will sometimes do. It depends on my mood.
I rarely take people disagreeing with me personally, unless they get abusive. Some mistake debating my side strongly with being angry. A lot can't deal with being disagreed with though. I get stroppy messages sometimes but that's a bit pathetic and is what the block button is for. |

I don't think you'd often find such a diverse mix of people chatting together and so it's inevitable not everyone appreciates the same chats.

It's happened to me a few times, including one of the above posters I know I've been blocked not because I've tried to message them but because I'm always looking at the profiles of forumites.

I can't see the point in blocking people. It's easy enough to have more than one profile... so you can still _iew them. |

I don't block people just because they have an opinion that differs from mine but I do sometimes block people who post something I find very offensive on the forum.
Like a lot of other people, I use forum posts as another sort of filter. |

I block when they send me a direct message and when I find I have been blocked by checking the poster on the forum. If I am blocked then I double block just in case.
I have been surprised at some who have blocked me but that's their choice and has not affected how we interact on the forum.

Surely you feeling offended by what someone has posted, particularly (I assume) if the post wasn't directed at you personally, is the same as you having a difference of opinion? |
