I have recently installed an ad blocker utility into my web browsers and I must say it works brilliantly. Even as a non paying member I do not get any of the advertisements on here. Apparently it is the most popular app for the Chrome browser. Do others use this too and if so, is it likely to alter the charging dynamics of sites when most users will never see the sponsored ads?

Ad and pop up blockers are fantastic, I can't believe it took me so long to install them.

Are they free? Do you mean like the annoying pop up ads that play videos ?

yes they are all free. Just depends on what system you are running as to which ones you need.

There was an article on the BBC about them last week which got me looking.
