"Its basically about two guys wanting to bang the same girl isn't it?
Yes, they both wanted to enter her harbour and seek her pearl. "
If I remember right one or both we're happy for her to be with the other - sounds like heaven to me
*although one or two more blokes added wouldn't go a miss |

"Good film yes, but I can't help but think it's a Hollywood All American bollox fest.
They could have made it truer to real life.
"
I agree, but then it wouldn't have appealed to such a vast audience. There were a lot of factual points thrown in, but as you say, a lot of Hollywood bs.
One thing for certain, it did change the course of events, and somewhat in Britain's favour. |

I think it has to be understood that American foreign policy was very tricky at the time. Roosevelt had won his third term but had to promise that as long as it remained within his power, he would not send any Americans to fight in another European war. His opponent had made this promise also.At the time of Pearl harbour, he had done all in his power to assist Britain, short of declaring war. The Pearl harbour attack was bound to change that, and after December 7th 1941, most Americans were happy for Roosevelt to declare a state of war between them and Japan. But even then, he was true to his word and still didn't declare war on Germany. Strangely enough, Hitler declared war on the US, relieving Roosevelt of this last obstacle..... (Draws breath...lol) |

Most of the senior Japanese command didn't want to attack america
Most viewed it as a mistake to avoid but american policy on blockading and embargoing left the Japanese with little choice but to attack
But shite film !!! |

As an aside on youtube watch Jeremy Clarkson's the Greatest Raid of all time.
It's not in his usual Top Gear Style and the story blows Hollywood BS away. |
