I'm due my upgrade in march. Anyone had much experience with bargaining with the phone companies??
I've been with O2 now for 4 years. I don't really want to change I've never had any problems, but my brother in law works for vodafone and can get me a 30% family discount.
If I upgrade with O2 will I just pay what it says on the O2 site is the tariff price or have I got a chance of knocking them down a bit as an existing customer?? X |

nothing to be lost by asking.
i have had discounts in the past, but not to the extent of 30%, but thye may offer that, along with a better 'package' and a superior upgrade than you would ordinarily have. |

In a word ... No. You may be able to wangle a small discount, especially if you say you're thinking of leaving but nowhere near 30%. However, vodaphones coverage is pretty crap compared to 02s so I'd check what it's like in your area before making a decision. |

after a strongly worded conversation with my network, my monthly bill is now under £12, 600 any network mins, 2000 same network mins, 3000 texts, unlimited net/data! Well worth bartering, most are pretty accommodating if you're a long term customer telling them you can get a better deal elsewhere!
Good luck! |

All I do is pick a phone I want, then call all the companies who do that phone.
I was with orange, so I called vodafone, they'll offer me a good contract for £30 a month
Then call t-mobile and tell them what vodafone is offering, they'll try and match it or beat it,
if they beat it an offer £27 a month, call o2 and tell them, if they offer say £25 a month
then I'll ring orange and if they cant beat i ask them to put me through to retentions who can do a lot more of a deal then the normal sales people can |
