I've not read much of his recent work. I lost interest for a while when they all seemed to get very samey . If he's got his mojo back then that's all to the good.

"joyland

Sounds like an old Eastern Block theme park, with attractions like the Leninist-Trotsky Rollercoaster, or Worker's Wurlitzer

Its a fair read but found it similar to 'Night Watch' inasmuch it is a good story rather than a typical Discworld story.

(if that makes sense?)

Well I found 'Night Watch' a crime story which took place on Discworld but that was about all it touched on DW.

'Monstrous Regiment' was similar - very little DW type humour but a good story.

Vince Flynn died this year to. His Mitch Rapp series was some of the best books I've read.

At least Terry has set up a contingency plan for when he cant write anymore. He's handing everything to his daughter Rhianna who will continue the Discworld.

Rhianna is a very good writer in her own right.

He's not actually blind. He has inherited a genetic trait which may, at some point, cause him to become blind.

I lost interest in SK for years, then picked 11/22/63 up cheap in The Works...brilliant book, equally as good, if not better, than some of his classics!

Anyone read Dr Sleep yet? I've got it for my kindle but think I may read the shining first. It's one of my favourite films but never read the book. King really doesn't like the Kubric version, it'll be interesting to see how different they are.

Oh and yeah get your finger out grrm

I enjoyed them, but felt that he was taking the piss in later books. The actual Whampyrii seemed to be one trick characters and he was inventing psychic abilities at random. However, the earlier books were enjoyable.
