This morning I have phoned in sick just so I can have a day off. Wouldn't mind making the most of it. What lovely lady would like to come round and have some naughty fun? Who else phones in just to have a day off? |

It's besides the point if you get paid for it or not! You are employed to do a job and when you're not there I assume others have to cover for you. Not a great attitude I must say |

"No way I go in sick or not. They have the choice to send me home."
I will stay off if i'm genuinely ill, I work with a lot of old, sick and medically vulnerable people so I cant afford to be taking germs and bugs into their homes
luckily its very rare I get colds and i've never had the flu in my life, but if I did i's call in sick so as not to bump anyone off |

I'm self employed, so don't get paid if I'm ill. Luckily I can still turn up poorly and it will be ok.
I've been sent home poorly from past jobs before, when I have gone in and my gaffer has taken one look and sent me packing.
OP - is it too late to make a recovery and go into work this PM? |

Only ever phone in sick when i'm genuinely sick. I'd feel guilty because if some is off sick everyone else ends up having to cover and work harder. I have worked with people who go sick a lot and it's annoying. |

"My work is done as I've done it from home. No one can do the work I do as im the only one that ever does it and it's done"
looks like you've changed your tune after a bit of criticism..
when someone is genuinely sick they're sick and shouldn't be at work..
someone is too lazy to go to work and pulls a sickie is a skate..
end of.. |

I'm an employer, and I'd be well and truly fucked off if someone did this on me. One guy did it a lot; he's not here any more.
If any of my people are genuinely ill, I want them to take time off to get better, and not infect everyone else, but swinging the lead does not sit well with me.
Serendipity - if you were in Belfast I'm looking for a "front of house" someone, and with those eyes you'd be a winner |

if I was an employer i'd hope all my staff would throw a sickie and work from home for no pay |

All I had to do was check over some plans for a new site we are hopefully going to put a new store on and check endless emails. I've got it all done but I can't finalise the plans until Wednesday when my boss is in the area. I travel a lot so in a way im my own boss (kind of) |

I have things to do, thats what weekends and evenings are for. If I am ill I would rather go to work and distract myself rather than sit at home and convince myself that I am dying. |

Funnily enough, I do front of house stuff but prefer challenging roles.
If I was the OPs employer he would be given his p45. |
