Ladies and gents, would you prefer a man or woman to be honest with you about how you looked even if they thought you was ugly or be nice, lie and tell you what you wanted to hear??

No body is ugly, maybe different, but not ugly, so there is never any need to be nasty or lie, most of us have enough brains and words to find something good to say.

Masked and Distant

Politely phrased honesty

Let down gently rather than dropped from a great height

Honest. My ex always used to tell me when I looked like shit and I honestly appreciated that.

SPALDING

Be honest. As harsh as it may sound but at least you know where you stand. I hate people that bullshit and lie, just be bloody straight.

I wouldn't expect them to say either

I would never ask anyone how they thought I looked so i wouldn't expect them to tell me either way

Rather someone be honest, however saying someone is ugly is a bit harsh, not my type is better

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I prefer honesty but without cruelty.

Insincere flattery not only sounds hollow it feels hollow when you hear it.

I'd rather they were honest, (since I already know I'm not drop dead gorgeous). I'd rather hear I'm ugly than hear the insincerity in someone's voice.

I hate guys telling me I'm stunning - especially before they've seen my photo! - because I know they're just saying what they think I want to hear.

Lol no, ex for other reasons.

I know it sounds bad but I really liked that he was honest. When he said I looked good I knew he meant it and wasn't just talking crap.

Honesty or personal opinion?

I don't really care if people tell me what they think I want to hear,I only listen to what I want to hear anyway

Central

Honesty as a general principle in life is ideal. Empathy and sensitivity towards others, coupled with respect, trumps everything though. Often less is more, and there are good reasons to keep quiet or say things in a different way that holds everyones dignity intact.

Yes, well said. You can be totally honest without actually verbalising everything that goes through your mind -'Sorry, you are not for me' is enough.

i prefer if they say im not their type, or i look ok.

i dont take too much notice of what people say because i have been insulted by more ugly people than nice looking ones.
