Speaking of which, I had a nightmare the other day that I had actually ordered a 'best of' dvd of Little and Large. Bizarre dream.
Morecambe and Wise do it for me. Although in all fairness, some of their material is a bit patchy, but with such a long career anything else would be remarkable.

Cannon and Ball, hear me out, I saw them as a kid at Blackpool and got to go on the stage, they gave games and stuff to the kids but kept calling me back and pilling another gift on top of the pile and kept doing it I could hardly carry the stuff the audience was in hysterics, about three years ago I saw bobby ball at a comedy club and told him the story of how I met him and thanked him for a great childhood memory as I went to walk away he called me back and ordered me a pint , I took it and he called me back and ordered me a whiskey and so on lol 35 years to wait for a punch line and it was still funny |

I'm in the two Ronnies camp here, they were years ahead of anything that had been before or was to come for a few years,
When Ronnie corbet would tell his story sat in the chair and goes of track and then back in with the punchline, has been copied by many, Ben Elton Billy Connolly amongst them |

I used to enjoy Trev and Simon swinging their pants and Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson deserve a mention along with Vic and Bob....
But without doubt my favourite has to be the utter genius that was Peter Cook and Dudley Moore,,,,

THe Krankies were/are swingers!
M&W were great but we get fed up of the BBC putting repeats on continually. Suppose it's cheaper than making new programmes. Their show was famous for being the first to include scenes with two men in bed together. |

When I was about 12 or 13 my family all went to see Little and Large at the Apollo theatre in Victoria.
Supporting them was Michael Barrymore and Sheena Easton. They don't put on shows like that anymore. |

A lot of great double acts mentioned here, and for me (although they were very different from each other) it's hard to choose between Morecambe & Wise, and the 2 Ronnies.
Another one that everyone seems to have forgotten though is Jimmy Jewel & Ben Warris. |
