Do the Polish stuff, kids tend not to be bothered about where a food comes from as long as there is loads of sugar in it they will eat it lol

It will be nice for them to have an insite into Polish culture, there are three things in this world that people from different cultures can share, music, football and food, so go for it and I'm sure things will be fine

Polish food can be incredible and very simple to make (also cheap and filling so you won't need much of it.) Just avoid stuff like Bigos and Flaki unless you want the place to stink of farts!

don't waste your time cooking or baking, Iceland, or any supermarket is full of party nibbles, you could feed 20 kids for £30, including the !

NO sandwiches, boring.

pizza bites, toffee apples,

popcorn.

best idea is a chocolate fountain, and a selection of fruit chunks, and marshmallows, argos do a choc fountain, or ask friends, don't be boring, you want kids to get excited,

banana, pineapple, pears, strawberries, let kids dip their own, and a few cans of squirty cream.

Sheffield

Cheese sarnies, ham sarnies and possibly marmite sarnies - beat the marmite into butter/marg to make it spread easily. Cheese straws or stars (nigella has an amazing recipe for cheese stars). A big bowl of mini sausages, preferably still hot.

Cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks, cucumber slices, grapes, melon wedges - people will tell you it won't get eaten but you'd be surprised.

Choc chip cookies and some kind of plain cookie/biscuit possibly iced. Buns/fairy cakes/cupcakes.

Keep everything small as kids at parties are easily distracted and will graze till full enough to run off and play. So use bun cases not muffin cases for the buns. Keep the flavours relatively simple and remember that there may be someone with a nut allergy or vegetarians.

It's a cliche but pink icing goes down well with girls. And don't overuse silver balls cos they're really hard and kids will give up on them and you'll find them weeks later stuck to stuff!

Opt for jugs of squash or juice not individual cartons or bottles, you'll be amazed at how many you bin still practically full and yet there will be kids who are still thirsty.

Don't just pit it in the middle and leave it, small kids will just eat what they can reach that they like. Pick stuff up and offer it round.

Make sure you have a calm down before eating (sleeping lions) and that you have a quiet game planned for after eating (pin the tail on the donkey).

If you do any traditional delicacies opt for the simple ones where they can see what it is, pastries with a filling they will avoid cos they can't recognise the filling. Though the parents will probably fall on it like a pack of ravening wolves! I always had to have the rule that parents can help themselves only after the kids had eaten or the kids wouldn't have got any of some things (mainly sausages and sausage rolls!).

And prepare to have party food for your supper and possibly the next days pack up, though the sweet stuff will make you very popular in any workplace. The kids will eat but something will get left over.
