This thread is like when I used to babysit as a kid. You could tell when a couple got married because their record collections stopped in that year, apart from the odd 'hit' album from subsequent years.
Has there been anything from post-1987? |

Blimey I am not that old for Exile...
If we ignore the 60s, 70s classics the next one that had a huge influence on me was..
Southern Harmony and Musical Companion (it would have been Amorica if they had kept the original tapes and not binned them and started again, the bootlegs are outstanding) |

Another vote for Abbey Road from me.
The medley from Golden Slumbers to The End is possibly, in my humble opinion, the finest piece of popular music ever recorded. |

I have trouble deciding what my favourite album of the year is, let alone all time.
Albums that have stuck with me since my teenage years include 'Angel Dust' by Faith No More and 'Goo', 'Dirty' and 'Sister' by Sonic Youth.
'Rain dogs', 'Mule Variations' and 'Swordfishtrombones' by Tom Waits are right up there.
'Young Team' by Mogwai and 'A Sun that Never Sets' by Neurosis are well worth a mention too. |

I couldnt possibly say the best of all time.
When I was 15 I had 'Non Stop Erotic Cabaret' by Soft Cell and I loved it. I liked all the lyrics about the seedier side of glamour and glitz. I still love that album today.
I also liked The Smiths - I have never been a lover of upbeat happy music |

Was tempted to go for something on my current playlists but they're not tried and tested yet so I'll harp back to the 80s and plump for:
JESUS AND MARY CHAIN'S "PSYCHO CANDY".

Actually i wish to take my selection back, though i love zep, i have a fondness for all their albums, as i looked through my cd collection this eve Slash reminded me that appetite was the soundtrack to several of the best nights of my life and if ever there was a raunchy song i give you rocket queen, the use your illusion albums are phenomonal. Darkside of the moon, if you haven"t heard it, why? Its hard to pick just one maiden album. Night at the opera is a powerhouse of an album. Nevermind, dookie and ten were soundtracks to my teens. S/o many more solid pieces of work, can i have a top 100? |

With one or two notable exceptions I loathe most Christmas singles, but being as we are approaching the season of goodwill I will give my shout to...
“A Christmas Gift for You by Phil Spector “ |

Omg I would love to get all the above posters in a room for a couple of hours just to talk music, there are only a couple of the albums mentions above that are not in my collection, and it's funny, Justin fletcher ain't one of them lol my choice
Nevermind-nirvana it was a game changer after rock music became a bit stunted and needed a good shake up this album striped down rock to its rawest form and threw out the rule book it's simplicity is its strength that's my view on it |

I'm with the Floyd crew but Wish you were here for me.
Also Brothers in Arms and alchemy Live Dire Straits.
And I'm going to throw in Flying High the Commodores for a bit of funky fun. |

Elvis, The Beatles, The Sex Pistols and, arguably Oasis all did pretty much the same as Nirvana, stomping all over a stale musical landscape.
As an art form, only The Beatles carried on and developed the blueprint further. Elvis was finished once he went went in the army, the Pistols and Nirvana imploded and Oasis just became more and more derivative. |

"If You Want Blood-AC/DC-from the opening burst of Riff Raff till the very end, a classic rock album. Never tire of it even after all these years."
That's my favourite live album of all time. It captures their raw energy perfectly, I had it on in the car today... |

"Welcome to the Cruise - Judie Tzuke
Her debut album containing some beautiful songs"
I love Road Noise, took me forever to manage to get a version of that on CD, and I had to part with a lot of cash, as no fucker would re-release it! I did throw a FLAC torrent of it out onto the WWW though, so people could share in it's magnificence! |

I sent her a mail years ago when I was after it and she couldn't acquire ownership of the masters. I see it's been released again now...should have waited, rather than dropping a fifty on it a few years ago! |

Wasn't it Ted Templeton? That's how Eddie Van Halen got involved with Beat It. |
