Vanity, as arrogance is a huge turn off and frankly the amount of vain profiles with no pics astounds me. I want to judge if they are God's gift to the world myself 
Desperation is just irritating, unless they've messaged me thrice that day. |

Vanity can be harmless as long as it doesnt turn into arrogance, we are all vain to some degree because we all want to look good or be our best.
Desperation on the other hand, can mean that you are willing to deviate from your own standards. And if someone is desperate to be with someone else, then how desperate have they been in the past and what have they succumbed to? |

Every business depends on vanity, and how people values themselves."
Especially so as we construct our identity according to what we consume (buy): 'I shop therefore I am' and all that. Maybe especially pertinent at Christmas (Santa smiley / emocon if I know how) |

Desperation.... Makes me cringe if I've chatted to someone about maybe meeting up if I get some free time then they mail 10 times a day it ask if I'm free, there's a difference between having half hour to browse forums and having time to meet  |

on god in reality i'd stay away from both but if I have to choose id say vanity
Some desperate people can be nice, sometimes its their own perception of themselves which makes them desperate where as I have never met a nice vain person, being up ones own arse is no good for me, nowhere to put my strap on |

Nothing wrong with vanity, if you've genuinely got something to be vain about and not just trying to fish for compliments.
Desperation is a complete pain in the arse, and the best way to get blanked at a club or via profile. |
