Brilliant bloody timing. Not!
And sodding, buggering ex-bloody-bf who creased the fuel tank by being a numptie and messed up the fuel pickup, (which I suspect is the problem).
Looks like I'm changing a fuel tank this week. Lovely weather for it. |

Are you doing it yourself or having a garage do it? If I were doing it I'd be spraying all the bolts and mounts with WD40 or similar now to avoid issues when you start the work. Obviously the first thing you need to do is disconnect the battery and leave it 45mins before starting any work too.

If it's the pickup like you say you may be lucky and get at through the sender inspection hole |

Fair point but if the tank has creased there's a chance it will split and start leaking, last thing you want given how flammable and expensive fuel is... |

I'll do it myself. Any WD40ing can wait unti tomorrow. Buggered if I'm arsing around in the dark. It's raining here too. And having just moved I don't know where my tools are!

i hate my car, ive spent loads of it
early december the head gasket went and the cambelt needed replacing, then on xmas eve the clutch cable snapped on a busy roundabout.. |

I had major car issues a few months ago. Lack of power and engine management light came on. Updated my status looking for a mechanic and bingo. It got fixed. I brought him a bottle of jd as a thank you x |

Got a nice vintage Focus Ghia going cheap next week, just had it's little boingy spring replaced 'cos the garage wouldn't let me drive it home without.........I'd driven it 20 miles like that at 2am the night before! |

Cam belt's are a service item, ignore the interval and you'll pay for it big time (unless you own something with a non-interference engine like A Mazda). I always change the water pump at the same time too. |

That's my suspicion.
I don't much like having a creased tank anyway because it's a weakened point so rather than faff about with it and possibly have to end up changing it anyway, I may as well just do it. |

Advice is always welcome. Doesn't hurt even if I already know what I'm told.
Mechanical stuff isn't my best skill and it's a case of necessity being the mother of learning. I can find instructions for most things I need on the net though. |

It will also be worth changing the fuel filter (if it has one, some don't), if its had a good knock it could have shaken a load of crap loose and you don't want that getting to your injectors. |
