I think Groves has the ability to beat him but changing your trainer the month before the biggest fight of your life is a bad idea.
He will have to stop Froch to win I think. |

yeah definitely not the usual way of preparing for the biggest fight of his career by dumping your trainer and like you he has to stop froch.
i believe he can and he will.
groves is the new eubank, he gets under other fighters skin without doing much but he is like eubank a very talented technician. |

thing is about Groves changing his trainer.
was listening to the radio in the week and they said the relationship with the last trainer had all but broken down.
i will go with the experts on this and say the longer the fight goes, the more towards Froch i am going to lean.
hope its gonna be a good fight though. well, better than a lot of the dross that has been on just lately anyway.
changing tack a little, anyone seen eubanks junior fight?
he looks a handy lad, with a bit of the old mans swagger |

Fucking stoppage my arse!!!
Groves was battering the shit out of froch!
Groves was fighting back. The ref git that wrong.
I hope Eddie Hearn rips that ref to pieces over that.
All 3 judges had groves ahead on every round.

I don't think the ref should have stopped it at that point let him take a count.
I have seen a few controversial wins for matchroom boxings top fighters.

Froch was rocked in round 1 should have stopped froch then if the ref goes by them rules

LLLLLLLLLLLLets get ready to RRREERRematch
What a shambles
So frotch touches canvas on the first but ref doesn't stop it, groves takes a few licks and he stops it.
And frotch the twat, is larging it afterwards as well, whereas as groves is more the admirable loser.
Just shows frotch knows he got proper lucky, should stick to twatty ITV second rate dance shows
I respected him before the fight, but when he refused to initially shake groves have after the bout - I say rematch and decorate the canvass with frotch |

didn't pay i got it through a streaming link.
groves had froch on toast although he got caught in the 9th he should have been given the chance to fight his way out of it.
i agree with earlier comments with the scorecards as froch never won a round.
when six world champions say that the ref got it wrong and 20,000 fans boo groves into the ring then cheer groves out of the ring then that says it all. |

I cant belive i pay for it every time!!!
You think thats bad mayweather vs alverez, one judge had it a draw. Watch the fight i gave mayweather every round. Boxing will always have this over it. Far to much money to be made by alot of people.
Groves has come out of this fight with all but the belts. And froch looks like a bit of a tosser i wondered when he would stop digging his hole during his post match interview. If it happens again it has to be at the o2 |

"Sky too cosy with matchrooms sports and two judges had the fight 76-75 wtf.
those judges should be questioned groves was up 5 rounds at least if not 6

It wasn't a scorecard decision.
The ref stopped the fight. That was not a stoppage defo not.
If the ref is gonna use that measuring stick he should have stopped the fight in the first round when groves put him on the canvas. |

the worrying thing is that the judges scorecards had froch 1or two rounds behind although he hardly landed a clean shot on groves in the first 8 rounds and groves out jabbed him and caught froch at will with his right.
frochs normal defence of leading with his chin

Froch orchestrated the Pre-match hype to this like something from a WWF wrestling match , seems the judges / ref were following suit with their performances , why do some sportsman ' piss on their own fire ' at the end of a good career ? |

I just watched it again the ref should have let it carry on or given Groves a standing 8 count.
I think Froch will fight him again as this victory will not look good on his record. Unless he can fight another champion. |

"Ref stopped groves from being knocked out by frochs uppercut."
You must have been watching a different fight.
Groves was fighting back. He was punching his way off the ropes.
It was nowhere near a stoppage.
A stoppage to me is when no defence is being made. |

I think Froch is a bit of a big head to be honest but then again hes earnt it.
A ref should stop a fight when a fighter is not punching back and unable to defend himself
Groves was throwing back he even swung a left hook just before the ref stopped it and was showing body movement to get out of the way.
Froch was unsteady on his feet after the 1st round knock-down so should have been stopped if you go but the rules the ref was following.
On Skys coverage 5 previous World Champions Khan Haye Mccory Nelson Woodhall and all top newspaper writers said it was a poor stoppage enough said really |

Unfortunately, if there is a rematch Groves will lose the fight.
Carl Froch was off guard lastnight.

I'm not so sure...that jab and right hand were superb... Groves was a little careless at points, trading unnecessarily, though most of the time he came on top it was needless. A slightly more disciplined groves will decision froch next time who can only really offer more of the same - absorb punishment and try to take to the latter rounds when opponent tires..
I would be disappointed if froch doesn't offer rematch...but not surprised. I felt he only said it when lost the crowd after his 10 minute speech, post fight, going on and in about groves antics. Groves said he'd froch had weaknesses and that he'd exploit them, and he did. That lad will be a champion and will be considered a better boxer than froch IMO. |

Id strongly fancy Groves to win.
His hand speed was faster more accurate better jab more power, his let down was youth and tactics.
Good pros after applying lots of pressure have a breather round in-between then step foot on the gas last min of each remaining round to catch judges eyes.
Just a few tactical changes and Groves at 26 will only get better and fitter.
I really do think Froch will dodge he for as long as he can. |

The stoppage was premature, however, the tide had turned in the fight. If he hadn't stopped the fight, I believe Froch would have stopped him in that round, maybe only a few clean punches away.
Perhaps Groves should have gone down and taken an eight count.
The fact is that Groves was taking big shots, whilst his defense had gone, and was throwing nothing back, and received a sustained attack to the head. In this case, the referee is required to stop a fight for the safety of the fighter.
Froch took plenty if hits, ones and twos to the head, but never a sustained attack without a defense.
I think Groves, who had dominated until then had spent his load, and had been blowing for 2 rounds. A title fight is 12 rounds, and Groves, no matter how well he did for 8 rounds, was not able to get through 12 at that pace |

As said before 5 yes 5 ex world Champions Amir Khan Glen McCory David Haye Jonny Nelson Richie Woodhall and numerous boxing writers all said it was a poor stoppage.
you ever seen any Evander Holyfield fights it been in worse trouble than that in his later 30's and 40's and went on to win.
Poor stoppage end of
And yet again Froch should have been stopped then after the 1st round knockdown he could hardly stand for me than 6-7 of the count! |

"i.e. Agree with everything Greedythump said in his above post...!
"
My mum and dad were sat 3 rows away from the ring.
Groves was fighting. Froch could barely fucking stand up on his own weight.
He was gone.
That's always gonna be frowned upon as the title defense that was not defended unless Froch calls a rematch ..in the NEAR future with groves in his current form.
If Froch delays it..everyonevwho is anyone in Boxing is going to know that right now, groves is the better fighter.
To be fair I was in the pub watching it and I was being influenced by the chit chat around me.
But groves turned up to the fight with no crew..massive respect for that.
He fought the fight on his own bottle.

Yeah I would say so.
My dad knows adam booth fairly well.
However Adam jumps between crowds.
Booth wss linked with groves and I think before the fight Booth honestly thought Groves wasn't ready for the fight.
On reflection and having seen groves demolish froch I think Booth is gonna be thinking "oh ok".
Booth is looking at the big fighters.
I think groves is gonna be a big fighter, wirld champ at his current weight.
Can groves step up a weight?..
Is Froch done?...nope!
Is Groves a better fighter?...yep.

If you judge the stoppage as ultra safety first then maybe yes
but Groves is only 26 young strong fresh it was a 12 rounder and yes a World Title fight you do not step in that early unless someone is out cold on the ropes or the deck in my view.
Plus as stated I'm a massive boxing fan god how many fights I've seen someone in trouble on the ropes survive the round and then go onto win.
Funnily enough for you boxing fans out there that's happened to Froch twice times in the Jamaine Taylor fight then Froch knocked him out in last 30 seconds of Twelfth Round
The only way I can agree with the stoppage if was Grove was 40 years old and on a losing streak then you think as a ref... past it fighter save him the beating.

Bro to be fair. ..
I'm talking horseshit.
I'm talking from the point of view of a spectator watching the fight on a screen from 10 different angles...the ref doesn't have that luxury.
The ref see's shit that I can't see.
But from what I could see on a tv screen it didn't look like froch hurt groves enough to stop the fight.
But the ref is closest to the action.

Groves got caught clean twice by very good shots...was buzzing... Just like froch had been in the first round when he's legs did the chicken dance. Maybe groves woulda gone down, taken the count...who knows how he'd have reacted? Could he go back to boxing or would he have lost discipline? It's unfair fot George to not know..but he'll get his chance if he continues working hard the way he has...
Timothy Bradley's recently title defence against provodnikov would have bought his first defeat had that ref been in there...
Two of the judges were blind though...having froch one point behind in the 9th??? I have froch maybe 3-4 rounds..that was pathetic. Looks like it woulda been controversial anyway!
Rematch...war groves!!!! Etc |

Groves done better than i thought however the stoppage was after constant head shots landed and no punch thrown back landing due to double vision i would say as i use to box. Groves was up max 4 rounds or by 5 point difference in my eyes.
I do think froch was ready to land the uppercut just when ref stopped fight at the wrong time maybe 10-20seconds to early. |
