Every time I put my headphones in to listen to music. Unless I am touching the screen, typing messages, etc. It goes on voice control and rings random numbers every so often. Is there a reason for this? Would it make a difference if I used apple headphones? It works perfectly without them so thought maybe apple is stopping people use other makes as accessories? Any help would be very much appreciated. |

Not sure of the make as the belonged to a cd Walkman I owned years ago. Well they do, but they don't work. |

That's your problem then. Voice control is controlled by a button on the apple headphones, the volume control on your headphones obviously sends the same signal to your phone. I would switch to using the ones provided or buying some iphone compatible headphones. |

Used it will previous iPhones from 3 up to 5. Suppose they are being crafty now  . I thought when they are doing that. The sound won't work as good as normal. I can put other headphones in and it won't suffer the same problem, but there is no sound at all. |

Hmm, if they've worked on previous iPhones I'm not sure why they wouldn't work anymore. Perhaps the headphones themselves are broken?

Well 3, 3GS, 4, 4S, they have worked on. Surely of the headphones were broken it would mean no sound and not voice control coming up all the time? |

Go to settingsgeneralpasscode lock. Turn it on. Pick a pass code. Then, on the same screen, scroll down and click Siri, turning it off.
This will make it, so in order to use Siri, you have to have typed in the passcode. If the passcode has not been typed, it won't activate. This should stop it calling anyone. |

Maybe not if it was just the volume control thingy that was broken.
Apple changed the design of the headphones for the 5 so maybe they work differently to the previous design. I actually really like the new ones, the fit is more comfortable than the looks would lead you to believe and the sound is good too. I especially like the little case which stops them getting all tangled and will hopefully make them last longer too. |

That may well provide a solution but it doesn't really answer the question why is it happening in the first place. Of the headphones are causing some kind of feedback then you could end up damaging your iPhone. |

Yea you're right it doesn't. I'm not convinced Its a headphone problem though. It's quite a common iPhone issue.
The solution I provided is only a fudge. But it may do what he wants. |

"Voice Dial" which means "Music Voice Control is always enabled". Switch that off and it seeks to work. Well a lot better than it did before  , but I have kept the settings as you said too  |
