Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

This Sunday, 24th, will be Stir Up Sunday. Get your ingredients bought tomorrow and get making your Christmas puds.

Do you have a favourite Christmas pud recipe you can share?

I'm not keen on Xmas pud. Can raspberry pavlova be used as an alternative? I have a great recipe for that.

Trifle is yucky. I just want the fruit, jelly and cream.

Take some meringue nests. Fill them with cream and carefully place raspberry's on top. It's dead easy. You should try it.

Cut out the first two stages. To be honest I go and get one from Fortnum and Mason as a gift for my brother in law and we're the only ones that eat it. He doesn't like brandy butter or cream though so I have get some of that just for me and he has custard (which is yucky).

Now, what do you know of Guava Jelly? I can't say we ever had it after Christmas dinner but it was a staple in our home growing up.

Only that it was a song title of Johnny Nash's.

Wouldn't know what a guava was if it hit me in the face, though i suspect i'd know about it.

I hadn't even thought about Johnny Cash - my head was in "stir up ye Christmas puddings" which our vicar would quote every Stir Up Sunday.

There are many different types of guava but I prefer the ones that are white inside, the pink ones are too flowery tasting for me. The best is an under-ripe one and eat it like an apple.

Or make it with someone who might struggle with the stirring but has an old family recipe.

I can't stand Christmas desserts, so tend to go for a nice chocolate yule log to keep it in the Christmas spirit

Love Christmas pudding and bought mine from Tesco already....another year I'll make my own but this was such a bargain I was going to eat it a few weeks ago when I bought it.

Have since decided to save for Christmas when I'll be able to tinker with my diet without guilt

I should make one this year. We usually have too much so I haven't made one for a few years. I might do it with the kids when we go away after Christmas.
