Something that I've always wondered that I think women will be best at answering

In the women's toilets in public places, pubs, restaurants etc. do the toilet seats lift up? And if so, why?

Yes they do. Probably because that's how toilets are made so they can go anywhere. They aren't going to make 2 diff sorts of toilet.
