Social reforms, really only kicked into play after the 1st world war. This was a way to placate the anger felt towards the establishment, for the horrors and grievances felt by the returning service men and the families of the dead. They give us a much watered down socialist left, to over come the rise in popularity in the Russian revolution. This worked and at home but couldn't stop the fall of the empire. |
