Iv still been watching not a vettel fan but can't fault the lad. I'm a Lewis fan wish they'd stop saving tyres and let them all race that's what he's best at. Hopefully next seasons changes will bring back the excitement |

We both are. J has been to Hockemheim and we both went to Barcelona for the Spanish GP a couple of years ago.
This season has been a little bit on the dull side with Vettel winning so often but you can't fault the guys talent. A lot of people say he can't be classed a true great if he hasn't done it for different teams but why should he? He won a GP at Torro Rosso, their only one ever so he can do it. |

"please can someone tell me the new rules for next season - many thanks an abridged version would be good ... u know like in Minxie language ... refuelling, tyre rules etc lol "
Next years rules are Vettel has to start at the back of the grid and drive backwards in reverse gear only for the first 1/3 of each race.
In addition if his car breaks down or needs adjustments at anytime over a race weekend he has to do then himself with his own set if spanners and lastly he had to change his own tyres with a traditional jack and wheel brace.
Lad tokes reckon that way he'll only win the world championship in the last race. |

Yup, F1 fan here.
Been to a couple of races over the past few years.
Been an interesting season, all within rules and reg's.
Apart from engines, not that different next year, as the aerodynamics will not be that much different. |

A lot of people dislike Vettel, because he keeps winning, but isn't that the same for any sport? To win?
F1 is not about one person, but as a team collectively and if he has a great team behind him then thumbs up for a first class outfit.
It's also true, that certain sportsmen are hated, but that's generally, when their chosen sportsman isn't doing as well, but that's life.
If he is setting records and winning legally than fair play as there shouldn't be any problem. We all like winning.
We met him a few years back and to be honest he is a very humble guy. No arrogance or self importance and more importantly a very private person who keeps his business spate from his private life |

Yes every year we do at least 3 this year has been one of the most lacklustre seasons ever apart from silverstone when the tyres kept exploding!
Now there's a idea to liven it up! mr ecclestone give the cars exploding tyres |

I also found this year boring, tried to suggest some improvements to Nigel Mansell when i bumped into him earlier this year.
All based on the classic arcade game paperboy, things like having to avoid a dog running across your path and the drivers having to throw objects to the pit crew as they pass by.
he didnt go for it. |

Have to agree with a lot that has been said not the best season for F1 but with the engine changes and the turbo charges coming back looking forward to the new season when it starts, and would like to see the refuelling brought back and as many tyre changes as you like and Honda engines returning ! |

"Maldanardo's win on frank williams birthday showed just how easy it is to manipulate the results."
I used to be a big fan, not so much now. I reckon it's long ago lost it's credibility. Two examples :
Early on this year, Ferrari were doing very well, Mercedes were crap, fast over one lap, utter shite over 50 or so.
Then, an irregular tyre test by Merecdes using current drivers, and since then they are wholly different in tyre degradation.
Back to 2007 or so when Hamilton lost the title to Raikonnen when 17 points in front with two races ( 20 points) to go.
I reckon the subsequent events were a price demanded for their copying the Ferrari manual.
China, Hamilton stayed out so long that his tyres were worn through to the belts within, never ever seen that before or after.
Final race, Brazil?, drives off the track, in neutral for 20 seconds or so.
Conspiracy theory maybe? Anyone have any thoughts.
BBC is showing a range of video clips from previous Brazilian grandprixs from the 80's, early 90's. A different sport in comparison with today.
For a time there was also an I-Player program called the Killing Years, F1 from 1950's to 1975 or so, pre Ronnie Petersons death.
Which included of all things, a Magnesium bodied car of all things. Wtf. |

I would like to see a trial race where they do it BRISCA style, put the grid in reverse order, with the points leader at the back for every race. "
Always thought that.
Love F1 and used to love going to Brisca F1 Stocks when at Odsal.
But is Vettel the best driver ever or is the RedBull the best car ever?

Bit of both, there has been quite a few times Vettel has had to drop into the midfield with the commentators expecting him to be held up and he gets through easily. A few races ago, I forget which he wads 13th and 2 laps later he was 4th again (don't quote me fully on those numbers).
The car doesn't do the overtakes, so there is definitely something special under that ever-changing helmet. |

"Apart from engines, not that different next year, as the aerodynamics will not be that much different."
Apart from the coander exhaust going that's been a huge help towards Redbull's massive advantage.
And a change in front nose height again and the width of the front wings again.
And kers making a big jump and turbo's being re-introduced.
But not much apart from engines.
Props to Vettel he's driven great this year in what has been by far the class of the field.
Still don't think he handle Alfonzo or Hamilton in the same machinery though lol |

Petrol head here too. F1 was a bit dull but didn't people say same think about schumi few years ago. Still think they should bring back re fueling and 1hr session qualifying. Where everyone goes nuts last few seconds ! |

With the change in power plants there comes a new challenge in packaging all the radiators and cooling associated with the new energy recovery stems and turbos. I think there is some scope for at least one team to come up with a radical new design. Also, the lowered nose and narrower wings may not look like a massive change but will have a profound effect on aerodynamics. Unfortunately, I think Red bull and Adrian Newey will get a handle on this quicker than the other teams. I hope after McLarens poor year this year they will come back with something special next year, as tends to be their pattern lately. |

One guess where Red Bulls head aerodynamasist is off to? He's not Adrian Newey but he is a key part of the team. |

Also, the exhaust systems have new regulations so with the new exit position, they cannot be used to feed down force at all. Red bull use this extremely well and will lose some competitiveness, but like someone else said, it's Adrian Newey and he'll get a grip on it faster than anyone. Apparently, he can visualise the airflow just by looking at parts...

Peter podromu? Have they actually let him go to McLaren? Last I heard Red Bull were adamant that he was still under contract. Anyway, personnel changes happen all the time, I don't think one man will make that much of a difference and besides, it's too late for him to have any major redesigns for the 2014 car. I think the biggest factor will be that they effectively wrote off development of 2013 back in September and all their rivals are battling for 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the constuctors. |

Why do people hate the finger? I couldn't care less how he celebrates, I would prefer he didn't have the opportunity to do it every fortnight but if he wins he could get his cock out and do a windmill for all I care.

Yeah it's a done deal.
I think they are still arguing about a release date but he is going.
He won't have a major impact on the 2014 cars but he will have all the knowledge on the Red Bull.
I'm just hoping that the major changes and the late push will effect their car design for next year. They've done very well and Newey is a genious but even for me who's been watching since I was 14 it's starting to get tedious that no one else is able to compete on a regular basis. |

I used to be a big hater of vettel then I thought its not his fault he's got the best car and knows how to use it, Webbers got the same car so surly vettel is a good racer and its more than just the car (but I'm sure the height and weight difference helps)
I do think more needs to be done with team budgets and spending there is to big a gap between the bigger teams and smaller teams its like having two races going on at the same time, just recently started getting into GP2 atleast the teams are more evenly matched which causes more interesting races again fingers crossed next year brings more excitement |

I'm not sure how relevant that info is going to be. He will have been excluded from knowing too much about the 2014 package as soon as a move to McLaren was even hinted at and the aero is going to be completely different from the past four years (even if it doesn't look like it to the casual observer) and Red Bulls trick engine mapping will be obsolete too. |

Iv heard Adrian Newey is looking to get out of F1 apparently he's looking for a new challenge and Americas Cup is a possibility, so I reckon 2014 might be his last and hopefully the end of red bull dominance |
