The film GRAVITY comes highly recommended, but you must see it on a big screen otherwise it will really loose its impact. That is a film specifically made for cinema.

DVD wise if you're a fan of the Coens and like good moving drama's etc with a twist then its worth checking out several foreign dramas, both television and films. One series we just watched that was especially good was the French series 'Braquo' is similar to 'The Shield' but even more gritty and every episode just leaves you wanting to watch the next one immediately. We picked it up second hand for 3 quid for season 1.

A series of other good movies as opposed to series, in this genre would be -

The Hunt

Jackpot

Tell No One.

I mention these foreign titles because there often overlooked by alot of people but often have some of the best content. (The Danish Killing being a good example)

British wise, there's Wild Bill, which is a fun film, if not amazing. Tiny budget.

We personally have a big collection of historical epics and true stories or drama documentaries, so if you want any recommendations in those areas I can probably name alot more.

Oh, and another really nice and overlooked movie, which you can get on Netflix, is 'The Way' directed by Emilio Estevez, and starring his Dad Martin Sheen.
