One of our bugbears is visiting the doctors and seeing the "Did not attend" figure, stubbornly around 15%.
How about a system where you are fined for a non-attendance. Say £15. And use that to fund free prescriptions.
I quite like the idea of lodging a deposit with your surgery against any missed appointments. |

Paying for missed appointments is already in operation at some dental surgeries.
Doctors, however, tend to overbook and are quite pleased if the occasional patient fails to trap - unless it's someone they know to be in poor health generally. |
