I've always been a bit of a bookworm and I find nothing more satisfying on a day like this than to snuggle on the sofa, cuppa coffee in one hand and a book in the other. The pages get turned faster and faster the more I'm enjoying it! 
Are you the same or do you now prefer the Kindle way? |

Im the same but I have a feeling a kindle is on the way to me from Santa
Don't know how ill get on with it,those that have one say they love them so maybe ill be the same,they also tell me that because of the free books they have read and enjoyed books they would'nt have normally chosen  |

i am a bookworm, always have a few books on the go but i have to admit the kindle has a huge advantage over the printed page. although if u drop a book in the bath its just a warming on the fire, whereas the kindle is probably dead |

Kindle all the way! So easy for travelling. And even I have fab to thank for mind being full of books; a lovely meet gave me a memory stick with over 1000 best sellers on it!

Definately e-reader for me , I have alsorts of reading matter from novels to refrence books dictionaries on it , I have the Nook simple Touch which I've rooted , it now reads both epub and mobi formats , so reads Kindle, Pdf books as well , I do miss the ambiance and civility of a real library .  |

With a kindle you need to register to Amazon with your credit card , with a Nook you just need an email address , it is possible to use the Nook without registering at all, Amazon always have a hold over you and have the ability to stop you using their services which means you never actually own the books you buy from them ...your simply renting them ... |

I love my kindle.
As someone else said, I have downloaded loads of free books that I wouldn't have normally chosen if I was to buy them.
I do, however, love the feel and smell of a real book. I just don't have the space to keep them once I am finished. |

Same goes for me, apart from the surgery 
I'm able to spend more browsing for books and genres that I like, and there are a lot of free and cheap titles.
That said there's nothing better than going to my local independent book store and settling into an armchair with a hot chocolate and my new purchase |

i love the feel of a book in your hands and i love the fact you can lend them out , or keep them and re read forgotten books ... i'd never buy a reader i can see their uses but for me the whole experience of a book out ways any convenience....plus it annoys me that ebooks are almost the same price of a hard copy (the ones i like to read anyway all seem to be) |

I bought a tablet and was told you can download books onto it. I've been in and looked at the app and that's as far as I got lol I still like to hold a book in my hand and use a nice postcard as a bookmark |

Love the feel of a book, I have a tablet that I downloaded free books onto for when I went on holiday. But for everyday, cannot see me changing.
Just gave two huge boxes of old books to the local church for their book sale. But old faithfulls by my favourite authors have stayed |

Some of my best reads have been recommendations from my mam when she was alive. She used to limit herself to read a book a day. I have a kindle best thing ever for me loads of free books. I do still like paper copies and have loads of them. Hubby is paper all the way. |

I like the feel and the smell of a book. a kindle is ok for hols etc but will stick to my paper ones |

The best bit about a Kindle is you can have lots of books with all the time. So very good for on holiday. Also the books are cheaper as well. That been said I still do like a paper book. |

It's a very personal thing, I think.
I've always been a bookworm, I honestly can't even begin to imagine how many books I've read over the years.
I purchased a kindle paperwhite earlier this year and I have to say, thus far I'm loving it.
I don't have the space spare to store a book once I've read it so I donate all mine to charity shops but there are lots of books that I'd love to read again. With the kindle, I have that opportunity. |

Just to add, I was always "against" e-readers on the principle of tactility.
I do still miss the smell, the feel, the essence of reading an actual book, but for me the kindle is the way forward now, regrettably. |

I have a new kindle and love it ... but, and this is the only disadvantage I have found, from a reference book point of view cos mine is not a colour version (paper white) some of the points are lost so I had to go and buy the actual book as well but for reading only it is great |

Kindle app on my iPad mini..... Love it...love the way you can just pluck a book and it's there, no trailing round bookshops.

I like both tbh. My bookshelf is crammed full of paperbacks and also a box full in my spare room, but I love the kindle too for it's compactness and the amount you can get on it is astonishing. |

The only problem with the Kindle is that you are tied to the Amazon store. You cannot use the Kindle to download the many free eBooks that are available from your local Library. |

If you download a program called Calibre you can change any book into the correct file format to go on a kindle. |

Yes you can. I use a free program called Calibre e- book management. as long as you can get the file on to you PC or laptop Calibre can convert it and send it to your kindle. I do this lost of the time. |

I do both. There are still a lot of books that have not been converted to Kindle so I by them as books. Also, Kindle books started out cheap but now can be as much or more than a paperback, so I buy the cheapest option. But Kindle also do some great offers and I have read books on mine which I probably wouldn't have considered buying otherwise.
But for me its Kindle for travelling, books for bedtime.  |

There is no limit to how many devices can be registered to your Kindle account, though some books are limited to being downloaded to 6 devices at any one time. I believe the bookmarks sync across devices though, so you can start reading on one device and continue on another...don't quote me on that though!! |

I believe the bookmarks sync across devices though, so you can start reading on one device and continue on another...don't quote me on that though!!

No problem If the bookmarks sync OK to one device, I guess they'll do it to any devices you have registered to that account.

More people smell books than I'd ever have expected. I don't sniff books so don't miss that. I don't miss having a huge pile of paperbacks to get rid of either and it means I have more shelf space for big books. |

Both. Books mainly but a Kindle for travel. If I go away for a month I can get through around 5 or 6 books - these weigh quite a lot more than a Kindle which has a whole library of books on it. |

I still miss real books though and occasionally still buy them from The Works!
Ok I have to take back everything I said above cos this lovely man has just sorted out my ipad and I now have my kindle choices on this as well and in colour .... thank you ever so much hunk!!

There is no limit to how many devices can be registered to your Kindle account, though some books are limited to being downloaded to 6 devices at any one time. Im a bit of a traditionalist, like to feel the pages and the smell of the paper. For me its about using as many of the senses as possible. That said i can see the advantages of an electronic device. |

Books for me, so far, I find the page size on all the e-readers a bit small & I'm constantly "turning" pages, whereas in a physical book for each open double-page there's about 500 words so it takes a while between page turns. Does anyone know of an e-reader that has a larger screen? |

At first I said Id never have a Kindle, it would never replace my beloved books. But eventually I caved in and had one and for a while I loved it, downloading all the time etc etc.
Then I saw a book Id been after in a charity shop, bought it and read it. I enjoyed the feeling of the book in my heads and enjoyed the feeling of clicking a bunch of pages together when I read, a habit I find relaxing and others who are in the near vicinity find extremely annoying.
And so Im back to buying books again |

Kindle all the way for me, iv had mine for almost 3 years and have read hundreds of "books" on and far far prefer it to a paper book.
I have hundreds of paper books on shelves and really want to get rid of them as all they do is gather dust, i wont be re reading them as i find it much easier on my Kindle |

I like books but am starting to read more and more on my iPad and I have some friends that have kindles as they move around a lot but mist if at home read books |

Obviously, Kindle for health and safety readings, you cant really disinfect a book, after reading another thread about herpes and other nasties being stored on every page..... |

Books every time!
Old books, new books, paperbacks, hard backs, it makes no odds.
They are all friends that sit on your shelves and keep you company and fill a room with warmth and color. and they dont need power to work.
Not something you can say about any e reader. |
