With Christmas approaching and all the supermarkets offers on booze do you think it encourages excessive drinking? I looked at my mini bar lol....and thought bloody hell how much booze have you got there and im still stocking up. Im no means an alcoholic but with all the offers on does it not lead people into temptation? |

I rarely drink but there have been times when I was younger thay I've over done it (especially when out) if there is an offer on.
I then realised hangovers and puking aren't fun |

I'll probably get a couple of bottles of wine, a bottle of vodka and a few bottles of Rekorderlig but that's about it. It'll probably last me several months as I rarely drink anymore... |

D*unks go to parties, alcoholic go to meetings. Price has little to do with it, shops close for 2 days at Xmas, but how much food do people panic buy on Xmas eve. Stock up while its cheap and enjoy your drink responsibly and be happy that you have an extra tenner to waste on unneeded food at the end of December. |

Lol I used to work in a Bargain Booze. Even though I didn't drink that much myself, my mouth watered when I was there long enough. |

some it may, but that would only be people that would drink a lot anyway, whether it be on offer or not.
personally, i dont buy any beer in for xmas (hate the holiday anyway so dont celebrate it)
my parents always get extra in so i may take a can or 2 from their house at some point. |

Well since it's my birthday in 2 weeks, I'll be getting a bottle of Absinthe and a bottle of Jager so that'll keep me in high spirits (no pun intended)
Then I just get a crate of beer and I'm sorted. |

What colour Absinthe? Go black and you'll never come back down off your cloud, especially mixing with the Jager lol |

Fuck that. Colour means nothing. It's just to make it look "meaner" I guess.
I like to drink it the traditional way. Been trying to see the green fairy for a while. |

"So, the drinkers amongst us; quality or quantity?"
First few should always be quality, if it turns into a session get the cheap stuff out, no one will notice |

"Sucks for some place in Wakefield.
I saw last night that there's shops taking cheap super strength beers/ciders off the shelves."
They should have done that years ago. There's nothing quite as shameful as working at an off license, having to sell that stuff and then seeing the streets littered with it later.
I told my bosses they should stop selling it and they were under the impression that it paid our wages, when I was the one selling tons of crates of beer, whsikey, vodka and wine to the local pubs every day and night. |

Yes I think you have a good point really as the term well it's Xmas will be used a lot to justify it lol I am a home brewer and have 4 19L kegs of beer ready to go and so much wine to if it wasn't Xmas I would normaly have one keg on the go and that last the year so yes I agree with you |

Hello Tom,
"20 cans of fosters for £ 12"
You'd need to pay me a lot more than £12 to drink one can of Fosters, never mind twenty. I'm a beer drinker but Fosters, no thank you.

How about the Swedish system? All off licences are government owned. It is the only retail store allowed to sell alcoholic beverages that contain more than 3.5% (by volume) alcohol. ] To buy alcoholic beverages at Systembolaget one has to be 20 years of age or older |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
If I see fizz on offer I will buy it but I would do that at any time of the year.
I think people do get into a mindset that because there is more there then they need more at home. How often has a supermarket really run out of alcohol though?

I can't really afford to stock up on booze when it is on offer, but I can't see me ever buying more than one bottle of a spirit even if I could. I go through phases sometimes I'll fancy rum sometimes whiskey sometimes vodka. Generally I just get wine in and if there's some half decent stuff on a three for a tenner offer I will try to stretch to that. |

We don't drink at home (despite having bottles of whiskey, brandy and champagne lying around which has been given to us)
We only on nights out and for special occasions.
So, no don't feel it encourages to drink more at all.
End of the day, it's a lifestyle choice for us. So artificial price drops dont tempt us. |

"Alcohol free zone here. I'm surprised to read how cheap it is though. Madness!
So, the drinkers amongst us; quality or quantity?"
quality every time..
firmly believe there is a massive drinking problem in this country..
cheap booze is mogadon for the masses..
trouble is its often NHS staff and other agencies who pick up the mess..
