I wear make up to enhance my beauty!
Actually I hide it to hide the black rings under my eyes and spots and blemishes. And then mascara, eyeliner and red lippy!! |

"Why bother painting plastered walls? Why bother painting cars in different colours? Why bother planting flowers in a garden?
Because it makes something ordinary look extraordinary "
I've always loved the word extra ordinary |

I wear very little make up but I get a thrill when buying a new lipstick. It's a little bit of carry around luxury. For £28 I get to lift my spirits for 6 months. It's cheaper than therapy.
And it's pretty. |

"Vanity nothing else would make people pay that price for cosmetics."
if pen stopped worshiping the overly made up models and tv stars there might be some weight behind the vanity argument however i suspect its more because they believe they have to have that false look that seems so popular these days |

It is an interesting question. Generally in nature the female is the dowdy one and the male has all the embellishments and make up (think ducks).
The rouged cheeks are to show health and vitality. The red lips mimic the presentation of the arse. Kohl enhances the depth of the pupil (all important as the dilated pupil indicates sexual desire). We have been doing it for so long that it is habit as much as anything now.
I know I change my look just by wearing black eyeliner. When I add eyeshadow and lipstick it's because I want to enhance what I am wearing.

I often dont wear make up or maybe just a bit of lip gloss. Sometimes I feel like enhancing my eyes, other times my lips. I try and accentuate rather than change my look. I do it because I like to and I can. Same as I sometimes wear trousers, other times a suit and then again I might wear a mini dress.
It is an expression of oneself and perhaps the mood of the day? |

I wear make up because I want to and I like it.
I am aware that there are pressures on me to look a certain way and I must have been influenced by them but I try and resist as far as I comfortably can, that's why you'll always find me arguing in favour of pubic hair lol. I also tried.as far as possible to ensure my kids had enough self esteem to see through the hype. |

"Following on from another thread, just wondered why?"
I just wear eyeliner and red lipstick and the only reason I do that is because the long shifts I do tend to make me look very washed out if I don't!I don't put anything on my skin as I don't want to ruin it! |

I am usually fresh face without any make up due to the nature of my job.
I would put on lipstick and mascara for a meet or a casual evening out.
For a grand night out, the full war paint job is about 2 hours, excluding nails.
Getting dressed up and wear make up, and put on special jewellery makes me feel good and special.
Hence I love togging up from time to time.

I wear make-up every single day and wouldn't dream of leaving the house with the basics... some tinted foundation, natural coloured lipstick and a few strokes of mascara. It makes me feel I've made the best of myself (plus most tinted moisturisers have an SPF element which protects your skin from the damaging effects of the sun). |

PMSL xx now why didn't I think of that???
Because, as always, I got there first! "

I personally either wear make up to make myself feel better if havin a crappie day or if going somewhere a bit different for a night out. But as i was once told Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so i guess for this particular thread its in the name of wear what makeup makes the person feels the need to wear or not wear |

Womens beauty has been prized likely since before the dawn of civilisation, and make up is a way to further augment and enhance it, just as male strength has always been valued and so guys have always participated in sports and other kinds of athletic competition - well, much less so in modern times of course. |

I rarely wear make up by day, I don't really need it. I wouldn't dream about going out of an evening without a face full of carefully painted make up. It just wouldn't be right!!! |

I wear make up because it makes me feel and look better. Tinted moisturiser and a bit of lippy in a morning is enough. But if I'm going out I put on the full Monty |

I remember being asked this question when i was younger. Why do women wear make up and perfume. My answer - cause they look ugly and smell bad
Not sure where i picked that answer up from but i was such a hit with the ladies in my very young days |

I wear concealer to cover spots and flaws, foundation or powder to make my complexion more even and smooth, eyeshadow to make my eyes look bigger, mascara to make my eyelashes longer and lipstick to make my lips look fuller.
Basically we wear makeup to make our selves look younger as all those things are attributes of the young. I didn't need make up when I was young. |
