Girl with no vagina

news story out of 19 year old female from Isle of Wight who at the age of 17, during a routine doctors appointment, was told that she has no vagina or any of the other womens bits needed to have sex or children. she just has a "dimple" where her vagina should be.

awful situation to be in, but questions i wish to raise are ...

1 what took so long to notice the problem?

2 did her mum not notice when she was a baby??

3 did not her mother, or herself, not wonder why she was getting no periods?

4 how did the midwife/maternity unit/health visitor not notice?

5 how does she wee?

Sounds like one of the stories you read about in 3rd world Countries, with poor health facilities and people living in fairway remote villages. But the IOW, what the fuck

The Town by The Cross

Jacqui Beck was diagnosed after telling her GP she had not started periods

Tests revealed she had MRKH, a condition affecting one in 5,000 women

While she has ovaries, she has no womb, cervix or vaginal opening

Where her vagina should be, there is an indent, making it appear normal

Sufferers appear completely normal externally - which means it is often not discovered until a woman tries to have sex, or has not had her period

She is now undergoing treatment to enable her to have sex in the future

Says she has now come to terms with her condition and wants to speak about it to raise awareness

She seems like a great girl to me.

There are worse things in life to be born without. She seems balanced enough .....

quote:

Despite the shocking news, she is trying to see her condition in a positive light - and even as a way of making sure she meets the right man.

She said: 'If he has a problem with it, then he’s not the kind of guy I want to go out with.

'I’m a hopeless romantic and I see it as a great test of someone’s character. Instead of focusing on it putting off men, I actually think it will help me find, “the one”.

'I want to be upfront with any men I meet and tell them straight away about my condition. I don’t want them to feel tricked into being with me.

‘I will feel more comfortable if they know the truth and besides, if they run at the mention of MRKH then I don’t want to be intimate with them.'

"i heard she just couldnt give a fuck!"

Comments like this are really stupid. Do you make jokes about people in wheelchairs as they pass in the street ? Ridicule blind people ? Shout abuse at deaf people from behind ?

How would you feel if you had children/grand children with a disability and someone aimed pathetic comments at them entirely due to that ?

This is a brave woman that's been discussed. She deserves better than comments like this.

Quite right too! It's not being said to her face & it's she's not known to anyone making the jokes. I really don't like it when people get offended on other peoples behalf. Keep the jokes coming & just because we laugh at them doesn't mean to say that we wouldn't be sympathetic to her if we met her. It's called "Having a sense of humour, & in this life you chose to be happy or sad, I prefer happy.

This case does remind me of the girl who went to the Doctor's with 3 Virginas & the Doctor put a plaster on each of the outer ones & left the middle one. "Will it cure me Doctor?" she asked "No!" replied the Doctor, "But it will stop you from getting fucked left, right & centre!"

Just because someone doesn't know that you are saying something about them doesn't make it ok. I can see how this condition would cause people to make jokes, sense of humour is different for everyone but to me its disrespectful to the girl concerned whether she knows you're saying it or not. Having said that I did raise a wry smile myself at the play on words.

A joke is just that, a joke! As long as you're not being repeatedly intentially derogatory about one particular section of society. Anything is fair game for humour and if you get offended that's your problem. That's why South Park is so good, the writers don't care who you are, black, white, gay, straight, left wing, right wing, Christian, Muslim, Jew, they'll take the piss out of anyone and everyone equally.

It wasn't just directed at you, there are a number of people on here (and by here I don't just meant this particular thread) that can't take a joke and get offended on other peoples behalf.

well... thats what i thought, but the report does state that where her vagina should be, there is only a dimple, which is what raised my questions in the OP.

when it says dimple, thats what i envisaged, just a dimple with no holes at all

But a womans vagina is an organ on its own, separate and apart from her labia, urethra, anus and clitoris which together make up her genitals.

Yes me too, I'm not shy but the thought of appearing, legs akimbo before an audience that would probably include various relatives, colleagues and sundry acquaintances gives me the heeby jeebies.
