How are you approaching your running ?
How many days per week are you training ?
I use a coaching app - Adidas MiCoach - which helps me plan and mix up the styles and types of run over the week
Stamina is a hard won thing, and you're only a month in
Don't despair it will come back if you work at it in the right way |

well get enough sleep and eat well for starters and build up slowly.
To help your leg strength and flexibility which will help you run more efficiently do some side lunges and calf dip raises google or youtube to find examples.
Those will sure help

Run out of energy after three miles ?
Surely human beings are designed for short fast bursts only.
Three miles is sommat to be proud of.
Marathon runners are weird......not better than anyone else. |

3 miles is good ....dont try to convince yourself you have to be a marathon runner ....especially after only a month back into it . build up your distance in half mile increments as a target and you.ll be amazed how soon you.ll get past the " pain / energy " barrier , which sounds like its lactic acid kicking in .
eat well , pace yourself etc ....eat pasta and a banana about half hour before you run ......its a way of giving a slow burning energy boost .
most of all ......enjoy your run. |

And of course buy a decent pair of running shoes ideally get your gait (foot strike) tested at a local running store and let them recommend the correct type of shoe.
It will make running easier and lessen risk of injury |

After a month you are doing well to do 3 miles ! Dont push too soon build up slowly and you will find that you can build up you're milage. I have been running for over 25 yrs and have run all distances up to 40 miles but patience is still needed |

It's taken me 7 months to get to just over 3 miles. I dis a c25k programme of podcasts.
Did 5k foe the first time yesterday and my legs hurt today lol
Maybe you are running too fast? Try slowing down to get longer distances in without burning out (look at me advising on running ) |

Have a cup of coffees 30 minutes before your workout , should help your endurance |

How are you running? Are you just running as hard as you can each time you run? If so you will (and by the sounds of ithave) hit a glass ceiling early on.
Long steady runs are your friend. And these should always be at a comparatively pedestrian pace. Build up gently and don't ever increase your mileage by massive amounts. Include run/walk sessions at least in the short term. The C25K plan that Evie mentioned is great. If you are already up to 3 miles but have hit a plateau, maybe look at following the later stages of that. Obviously starting from the beginning is pointless but a step back to move forward will work.
Have you started running for a reason? If, for example you are looking at running a half marathon then look at a beginners training plan and use that as a guide.
And don't make the mistake of thinking that you are fitter than you are. You are a beginner and if you want to avoid injuries and problems further down the line remembering that is important. |

I am a personal trainer and I allways advise my clients to build up slow, but in order to raise endurance you need to do some of what I call "post to post" basicly walk/jog between 1-2 lamp posts and then sprint the next and so on.... Do that twice a week and go for distance twice a week and watch the miles rise and the time fall.
Ps don't have coffee before a run as it will cause you to crash after a short time good luck if you need any more advice on good foods or exercise just ask |

Try joining the Sweatshop Running Community
If you're going to buy gear call in to their shop and have a chat with their staff about it or just Google them.
Running with others can be a great motivation and training fun
Others have also suggested park runs.
Take a look at the Run Forrest Run thread |

You could cheat...
There are 2 ways to do this...
First change your routes so that one has a lot of height gain and one is flat...
Run till you hit your wall on the flat then run your height gain route till your wall is the same...
Then run your flat again, you will find your wall has moved...
Or buy some old webbing and fill the pouches with bricks and run wearing that...
You will find when you take it off that your running on air!
Both work, combining the 2 work even better! |

Was such a good whole body workout, but too high impact for me these days... |

Tea won't be too bad its just the high levels of caffeine in coffee that will cause people to crash after all caffeine is a poison (natures natural bug killer) that's why the pros carb load before a long run and to drink coffee redbull etc etc |

The main thing now is that you find your pace and enjoy it!..
You'll be more inclined to do it more often then..
Push yourself too much, you won't enjoy it.. Meaning you'll be less likely to keep it up!
Just remember, everyone has a starting point, find your pace and enjoy! |

There's quite a debate about caffeine at the moment.
Some say it's not good (see above)
And some say it improves focus ....
It's the same with isotonic drinks (e.g Lucozade Sport).
Some say they're essential, others that water hydrates you enough. Generally if you sweat a lot or exert yourself for more than an hour then isotonics are beneficial. Otherwise save your money

Agreed 100% however in my old job I worked very long hours and drove somtimes hundreds of miles a day, some of the guys I worked with drank monster red bull atc as they thought it kept them awake and helped them focus while driving. But if saw them at the end of the day they looked rough as because the monster etc had made them crash then picked them back up and so on.
But that was just my observation I am in no way a expert |

if you have only just started running I think most people would be fooked after 3 miles, no one runs a half marathon straight away, the longer you keep it up the loner you will go before getting tired
im by no means a expert on this subject that just seems common sense to me |

Closer than you think |
My top tip, for what it's worth: join a club (or something like the Sweatshop Community mentioned above). There's nothing to beat the encouragement of others trying to achieve the same aims to keep you going.
I found my running (endurance and speed) improved more quickly after joining a club, than it did in years of off and on plodding on my own. |
