Hi does anyone know if its safe and legal to have a forward facing car seat in the front passenger seat, ive tried reading up on it but it seems to contradict itself, also it would read that if you do you should turn the front airbag off  |

yes this is correct. you can have a forward facing seat if the passenger airbag is switched off as the seat will restrain the child into the seat and the air bag explosive can hit the child. Also they are designed for adults to impact them and can smother a child if you are rendered incapacitated due to the impact. my bro is a traffic cop. hope this helps.  |

Thanks guys for the help, yes obviously it would be better in the back seat but due to the design of the seats im not sure the car seat will fit in the back, plus the back seats are so small in the Audi's I wasnt sure if it would be safer in the front with the seat pushed far back and airbag switched off |

Best advice I can give is ask at mother care or similar about seat and ask for fitting usually free. Seem to remember survival rate sixty percent higher in rear seats. Good luck and safe driving   |

if the Car has a boot or Proper loading area a Child Seat will always be safer in the Back...Unless its a Chrysler Voyager then i would leave the child at Home |

Courtesy of the car seat safety training I've recently sat through a full day of the absolute safest place in the car is the rear middle seat if it has a diagonal lap belt failing that either of the other rear seats. Car seats can be in the front as said before with the seat fully back and the airbags deactivated.
My biggest piece of advice would be to go get the seat professionally fitted for your car as having done this training I realise how many people use cart seats which do not fit or aren't correctly fitted  |

Surely this should have been addressed when you bought the seat unless i am missing sonething. Not criticising just curious. |

It probably was addressed when the childs mother bought it, im looking after him today and she said the car seat would be ok in the front but I just wanted to check, its not that I thought she was lying just she may have got it wrong, thank guys and gals x |

Audi sell child seats. go to audi merchandise shop, child seats should always be in the back.
small children are a distraction in the front and they are generally safer in the back.
