Now as ive gotten older i still love the banter but get so stupidly turned of by the uniform i cant think straight lol ive even said on my profile that guys in the military will get first choice and wow the hate ive been getting is crazy. I cant help what im into right?

Why do you feel you need to justify your preferences to anyone on here. Do your thing!

dont generally mind what people do for a vocation, and its nice to find out when you ask.

its when the first message says 'im a fireman/soldier/marine/ghurka' and so on, like its going to be the difference between us saying yes or no.

Can understand how leading with the uniform can be a turn off, but it also says "I am very fit" and that can also be a turn on (unless you get a pear shaped soldier/sailor/airman/policeman/fireman or whatever). LoL

After 4 years as a military wife the uniform does very little for me now, they are human like the rest of is and are certainly more than a uniform.

Titz Towers, North Notts

Your preferences are your business, hun

On a personal note, what someone does for a living doesn't really bother me. It does irritate me when I get a message from a guy who feels the need to announce that he is a fireman or a soldier, right after saying hello, as if this bumps up his chances with me....

I find that a uniform signifies a kind of submissiveness - the army in particular.

Well, you've said it - it's the hate that's crazy, nothing bad about personal preference at all, especially as you say it's what you are comfortable with. I married a guy who was in the Royal Marines, several ex-military guys have come found me on here - there is something a military career can give a guy in my book, a confidence in his own ability, self-assuredness - something.

As for the haters - well they're probably just jealous, frustrated men with ego problems who don't like the idea of someone else getting preference over them. Delete, block, crack on!

Amen to that. Eventually someone who sees it from my point of view

Yup this bugs me too. I look at everyone's job the same, respect to those who serve the country in any way, but it won't make me drop my knickers. I have to like you just like any other guy.

Mind you, single guys have such a hard time on here you can't blame them for mentioning anything that might increase their chances of getting a reply!!
