Perhaps it's like the trolley system and someone forgot to retrieve their coin.
I think it's likely to be something boring like dumping your clothes on the bed before dressing and then finding it the next time you go to bed.

People do leave trollies all over the place. OP, have you met a gusher recently? Trollies always get left in watery places.
