I ache all over, I help look after 13 horses which is hard work to put it mildly and have been recommended cod liver for my joints but I think it also muscular pain.
For example, I can feel my muscles twitch and often they feel sore. Will cod liver help the muscular pain too?

No it won't ... and to be honest fish oil would be a better option than cod liver oil .
Magnesium citrate tablets or magnesium oil spray would help the muscles . Or a long soak in a bath enriched with epsom salts . |

In a simple answer cod liver oil is meant to help your joints and muscles so if it helps them then pain should be more manageable through the help it provides |

Is this a one off thing or an on going problem |

Oily fish, bananas, tree nuts (pistachios, walnuts etc), eggs, citrus fruit juices and cut down on unnaturally sugary stuff. Dont cut out salt, just keep it moderate.
Chances are, it's just blood waste like lactic acid making you ache but it's best to build up your postassium and magnesium intake to relax your muscles more and build up on minerals. |

Yes, 28 is too young to 'need' joint supplements IMO, I would say make sure the refined sugars are low and you have sufficient protein and salts to do the heavy work involved with horses, and try some magnesium.
I find L-carnitine good for muscle recovery. |

its not always wise to have hot baths for muscular aches and pains in fact its the total opposite.
ice baths stimulate growth and repair to the muscles, because your muscles contract when you sit in the ice bath, this fools the brain that a particular area of your body needs fresh blood to survive.
the fresh blood creates new growth and also repairs damaged tissue thus it removes aches and pains.
try a bag of frozen peas on the worst affected joint and see if that helps. |

How lucky are you?
I ride every Saturday and would gladly work with horses every day as they are such amazing animals.
How long have you been doing it as your body will get use to the huge physical effort required in a few weeks.
Meanwhile the earlier post regarding nuts and fish oil is a good on, although plain water drank in small mouthfuls through the day will help loads. The muscular pain is lactic acid and washing that through is the only way really, it builds in the muscles as waste from exertion but can also be a sign on dehydration.
Have fun, such a lovely job even if its a tough one.
Of course, if you need help bathing in a warm bath I am exceptionally skilled with a sponge

I'm going to try eat Nanas for breakfast.
And find a physio as I had a bad fall 2 years ago, and haven't been quite right since. |

If there is one near you, I can highly recommend a floating session. Basically you lay in a pod or pool with such a high salt content that you float. I found it really beneficial for joint ache and pains. |

Just as a matter of interest do you stretch your muscles before & after? I'm guessing 13 horses is highly physical bending/stretching etc. if you did that in a gym you'd warm up & cool down.
Also nice hot soak in the bath

Ah yes, if you're crooked that can put everything out and cause all kinds of musculoskeletal problems - get thee to an osteopath!! I'm off this afternoon as I know I am still all crooked through the ribs after a fall a while back, I've been getting such pain in between my shoulders after landing on my chest and justy not got round to going. |
