A very emotive situation...someone goes missing not wanting to be found..l think it must take an awful lot to cut yourself off and go missing. I went off the radar for a while I was in a bad place...the pain I put my parents through is something I live with. |

Yes. When you hear about people who've been gone years and years it makes me wonder if they'd like to go back but feel its been too long. Some sad stories id imagine. |

My cousin basically moved and disappeared from our lives for many many years. We missed him terribly. Luckily he found his way back to us and we are so happy to have him back and his other half. We are just so very glad to have him back x |

I just upped and left when I was 15, struggled but never looked back, my relationship was always strained with my mother, but I would be beside myself if my children ever put me through, anything like I put mine through..... Although I don't think they ever would, my relationship with my kids, all in their 20,s now bar one... Yes I have a five year old!! Is absolutely poles apart from the relationship I had with my mother |

I think for someone to disappear and cut themselves off from family and friends without a trace they have to be in a truly desperate place but it is sometimes the only way for them to get past that black place!! |

It's true, some people thrive alone. But when you drop your life and disappear, you're dropping all the luxuries you dont recognise until they're gone. It's too easy to romanticise leaving everything behind and hitting the road, but the reality is that there is nowhere to go when you're homeless. |

"There was a success story which is always nice to see when people do what to be found...it some cases it's better that they are never found.."
I was never found, you would have to be looked for to be found, i reunited with my mum 3yrs ago, 6mnths before she died...I am glad she got to see her grandchildren....albeit they where grown up... But she was an old lady... Very lovely and Very different from what I remember. I went to her funeral and It was very Hard i knew nobody there including my brother He promised me faithfully he would be in contact when they scattered her ashes ??? I'm still waiting years later... Guess he hasn't and won't ever forgive me for dissapearing. |

In situations of domestic abuse and violence, sometimes it has to be done, my house mate did it about 45yrs ago,
Luckily she found a hostel in Chiswick, run by Erin Pitsy. She had to leave 3 young daughters, and everything except what she stood up in.
After a name change, identity change and living in an isolated cottage in mid wales for 5 yrs. she established a new life.
During her stay in The hostel in Chiswick, she became friends with Joanna Lumley, who was at the time a volunteer their, and they have remained friends for life.
Her 3 daughters are in touch, but haven't forgiven her for abandoning them. Luckily the guy died and the 3 kids have gone on to do amazingly well.
It is hard to imagine her desperation at walking out and not going back, she knows she would of been killed if she hadn't. |

After Dad died, my brother went missing for a few days. It was the scariest time for Mum and I ever. After about 36 hours he contacted his best mate to say he was alive and with friends and needed time. I don't blame him for what he did, he won't forgive himself and feels like he abandoned Mum and I. But you in my opinion you can't judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes. |
