I'm selling a few thing for the first time in years and I can't find an answer to something.

A bidder has asked if I would accept a buy it now price for an item I have as an auction. I vaguely remember that this wasn't possible years ago. is it possible now?

If I really want something I'll just say:

"I'll give you X amount" to end the auction now.

They can do that.

There are rules about when you can take a listing down. Especially if there are bids on it.

Ah, there you go, I thought there must be something.

Don't do it by email though as its against the rules plus don't let him knock the price too much below what you would ideally want nor get conned into making payment any other way than what the site says but you can accept a buy it now price

Just be careful if bids have already been placed and you end the auction early. If you end early and he doesn't pay/changes his mind I think you still get charged listing fees etc (although not 100% sure) and you have to go through the faff of relisting and paying fees again when it does sell.

AFAIK, a listing can be changed from Auction Only to Auction or Buy It Now, providing it is not too close to the end of the listing.

Oh if it has no bids. Once the auction starts it can't be changed. I tried with the last things I sold.

I use ebay a lot, and have found I am getting much better prices by using, buy it now or best offer,

I ask for 2 or 3 times what I want for an item, when someone offers you a half, and you accept, they think they have a bargain.

And it takes the gamble out of the auction, this works brilliantly on german and usa sites.

Yes it can be stopped, even if it's sold but still on bid, just cancel the bidding and you get a list pop up for reasons why,I just say the listing is incorrect, then either relist the item or sell it on.that way you won't get eBay or PayPal fees.

You can add a buy it now price to your listing but only if it has no other bids on it.
