aw god, penny sweets! how far could 10p stretch in the late 70's/80's he he!
fruit salads, black jacks, white mice, mojos loved em all! still do. still love a sherbet fountain, but of course, everything seems so much smaller now.
for those who loved space dust, at christmas time cadbury's release their elves, just like little 'freddo' bars, but they have popping candy inside! trying snogging someone at the same time, mmm! |

"Popping Candy! Empty the whole packet into your mouth and it explodes all over your tongue, cheeks and throat.
Probably banned now!"
i had a creme brulee the other month that had icecream with popping candy in - was awesome!!!
Penny sweets were great - used to take half on hour to work out which get you more value for your money lol
no sweets taste the same now they have taken all the artificial stuff out
Remeber the chocolate cigarettes you used to be able to get - thinking you were so cool pretending to smoke lol |

Thanks but I've moved on now and prefer other things exploding in my mouth... |

Sadly, Spangles have gone. Used to love the Old English ones. Probably wouldn't be able to call em that any more! Too Jingoistic. Have to be called "Old Peoples of the World" flavour now... |

"Refreshers! I loved Refreshers! They taste crap now, cos in line with the "Nanny State" they have reduced the sugar and other bits and they are just not the same! "
.
A lot of sweets are sugar free, and I cannot stand the taste of sweetners. Hence I do not eat many sweets nowadays. |

Gold Nuggets bubble gum; Space Dust (that crackled on your tongue); Sour Fruits chewing gum; 12" long Bazooka Joe bubble gum; a 10p mix that got you 50 sweets (try and get that anywhere these days!)
Nostalgia... hhmmmmmmmmmm ... it just ain't what it used to be. |
