Got woken up by the council this morning and it was the "dreaded" mrs hitler.as she is known.
So im thinking, "what the hell have i done now? ive had no swinging parties for years"
And im paying the dreaded "bedroom tax" ..
So how much do they want now
But to my suprise, it was to say they owe me.
Yahooooooo
I paid over and they now have £350 of my money....
Can i get it back i says , as xmas comming....???
Nope.
I will go on my bedroom tax account in case i ever miss it
I went from yahooo to f***** hell in 2 seconds |

Can they do that? I would get some advice as it is your money after all. |

Yeah I agree I'm pretty sure that's not allowed!!! |

Just to add I overpaid my fuel bills one year and they tried to tell me they would just keep it and it would come off the next year. I demanded they send me a cheque. They did. If it's your money I don't think they can keep it! |

technically they can keep the money... |

02 did something similar, they cocked up on my bill charged me £132.50
it should have been £25.. but i had to pay them 132.50 and they'd give me the rest in form of 'credit' to my account.
I refused to pay it.. they cut me off. Numb nuts here then paid it as my mobile is a lifeline (no housephone) and i now dont have to pay o2 for a few months now |

"Its your money, they have no right to keep it"
it depends on a number of reasons but it might not be technically hers... |

If you over pay you can get it back. But you have to push to get it.
It is the same with council tax. |

Seems you have explored all the options but it is your money and I am sure they cant keep hold of it. Had a similar thing with gas and electric, I over paid they wanted to keep it but I stood firm and got it all back. Try citizens advice! |

Total horse s##t they have to give it back to you don't owe them it and it is illegal for them to keep. Send them an email stating this and I can gaurantee you they will send it back |

Send them a nice polite letter stating that you agree to them holding your money for the ten days but that you would prefer it back today. Point out that if they are unable to do that there will be an interest charge of 10% per day. It is your money they are not allowed to hang on to it and you can charge them for doing so. |
