it does make you wonder if/when/where finding signs of life - any sort, not just intelligent - outside our solar system will leave religions that believe in a personal, human-centred God?

It's surely a mathematical fact that we aren't alone in the universe. Given the number of suns and the number of planets, by the law of averages, some have life on them. Whether that life is bacterial or intelligent, it's still life. |

Technically not. There's an infinite number of planet's, of which only a finite number are inhabited. Any number no matter how big, divided by infinity is zero. Which means we don't exist!

Definitely believe in aliens. There's an infinite number of planets in the universe. At least one planet other then Earth has life.
Also, we evolved to live on this planet. Living organisms could have evolved to live on "uninhabitable" planets. Just because humans can't live there doesn't mean something else can't |

I think we'll find alien life, it is probable. I don't think we'll get there though, we'd die before then and nothing can travel faster than light speed.
Religions will probably just twist it their own means, as always.
I think religion will die a slow, drawn out death as they struggle to maintain their grip on people. With scientific improvements, a rise in the standard of living, the 'shifting zeitgheist' of morality, people are already turning from theism. I read a recent article actually, that reckons by 2035 atheists will be in the majority. Let's face it, holy books are archaic and "God's law" has very little to do with our own morality.

i think he has been watching the joke of a show called ancient aliens.
a video on youtube debunks everything ever said on that programme.
religions have to adapt as much as possible to keep in line with modern science.
the grip they used to have on people is getting weaker by the day.

I think it’s quiet sobering to consider that even though the Voyager space probe is apparently travelling at a speed of approximately ten and a half miles per second it is still expected to take approximately 76,000 years to travel a distance equivalent to Earth’s next nearest Star....  |

Christianity and Judaism are in decline, but Islam is the fastest growing religion worldwide.
I've always been a staunch atheist and the fact that any religion is growing bothers me.
As for aliens...I think most people are blissfully ignorant. |

I don't believe the Universe is infinite, otherwise there would be a infinite number of BrightonSteve's typing this at the same time all identical, then another infinite number where one atom in that universe is different, then another infininate number of universes where there are 2 atoms difference and so on. I think there is only one universe and eventually there is pure vacuum with nothing there.
Statistically, there will be other life in the Universe but it will only be recognisable if it developed within similar parameters to our own.
As for religion, we can only state with certainty that religion is human made. |

i believe there is some story/history to creation and modern day man but its a long lost one going too far back
i stick religion in the mythology category. its either BS or loosely based on some age old shit that noone really remembers and its been twisted throughout history |
