Feeling really grrrr right now.

Finances at home have changed since my 16 yr old left home to the tune of my household losing £500* a month in tax credits etc

I work part time & have asked for more hours but there's no chance at the moment if ever. I am applying for other jobs but in the meantime once my contributions, rent and travel come out my salary it leaves me £200 PCM to live on (presuming I don't pay my council tax). That's not right surely? I'd have more on the dole (which is not an option as I love working).

Seems so unfair

Chorley

I did my budget today and found I'm spending 74p a day more than I earn.

Anyone want to sponsor me?

It is probably right, when tax credits and child benefit are no longer paid, one's income drops dramatically so to speak but then one has less mouths to feed

Are you really worse off ?

Surely it cost more than that to house , feed and clothe a 16 year old.

If you can't claim child tax credits, can you claim working tax credits (if you don't already)?

There's a calculator on gov.uk website or a welfare rights advisor can help.

Look into working tax credits. I have recently been awarded it and without doubt they have made my life so much easier!

Maybe in a house where the child gets the latest everything they want. However I am not one of those parents. We charity shop & lived basically. Payday there would be a few treats from primark but other than that....

Fingers crossed, I have 2 interviews for full time jobs lined up. Hope one clicks.

As for tax credits I do 20 hours a week so don't qualify. With regard to housing benefit apparently now I have a spare bedroom the bedroom tax would eat up any entitlement.

Thanks for input & advice
