I think maybe the BBC should think about getting a new commissioning head for comedy. Not content with the Awful Ben Elton 'the wright stuff', now the BBC have another poor comedy in 'citizen khan'. That said, good to see Gita from eastenders pop up in it. |

it doesn't appeal to my sense of humour and that could be because I don't understand the stereotypes but it could also be that I just don't find any of it funny. |

bbc worthwhile programmes are nature..everythingfuckingelse SUCKS!
and yes I find it pathetic people pander to the bbc really...and the weird thing is, they make programmes like 'atlantis'-in an effort to break into the game of thrones market and fail absolutely miserably

I don't think it's funny at all. It should really be on BBC three.
This is the 2nd series and people didnt like the first. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2194972/Citizen-Khan-provokes-200-complaints-BBC-accused-insulting-Muslims.html |

It's sub level Mrs Browns Boys. The guy who plays Khan is actually very funny. He was excellent on the Down The Line spoof radio series where his character is sourced from originally. But this is too bad. Chances are the BBC being their 'right on' PC programmers will have it so they don't appear to be racist. Yet shite like Father Figure persists. Music has finished in this country. About twenty years ago. We know that. And it'll never return. But not comedy. There's is no need to accept garbage like this. |

Especially programs like Bargain Hunt where you get to watch witless cretins basically throw your license fee down the drain. And they chuckle when they lose a few hundred quid. Well they will, because it's not their money they've flushed down the pan, it's yours.
The BBC is crap. |

I actually quite like it. A lot of the comedy comes from the taking the piss out of stereotyping that people think of when it comes to the values, customs and the religion of the Asian Muslim community. I have a few friends and colleagues who are part of these communities in Leeds and Bradford, who are just like one of the characters from the program. Some of them don't like the program, some of them love it. Like any comedy, you have to relate to what makes it funny I suppose. Each to their own I suppose. |

Having lived in West Ham for 30 years I thinks it portrays the average Pakistani family who have to struggle living in a mainly Indian area.
Like Ali G it over emphasizes the situation but it is funny and fetches back memories of Green Street for me.

The actor who plays the lead role in citizen Khan actually wrote the scripts
It's funny because the stereotypes portrayed do exist and people do relate to it
I love mrs browns boys too |

Different strokes for different folks..it's a simple show that exaggerates stereotypes. Whether or not people believe that the characters are representative of the British Pakistani population in general is an indicator ones own prejudices.
As far as I'm concerned, I find it unimaginative and the jokes cheap but that is precisely what it wants to be. I'm never likely to watch a show whose jokes are obvious, or ones that I could have made up myself with little effort.
I prefer something like Frazier but perhaps I'm a boring git.
C'est la vie.

I remember a lot of classic comedies from the 90's, Goodness Gracious me, The league of Gentlemen, Father ted. T.V is just not the same these days, it's as quick as they can get them addicted to X-wank, Britain's got Money making Potential and strictly come make an ass of yourself on our dance floor |

Give it a chance.
Trying to view it as the same kind of programme as 2.4 children , Only Fools and Horses or Gavin and Stacey is a mistake.
It's new. It needs to be seen for what it is.
I've watched about three of them.
I was irritated when I watched the first one but I know when it's me handling something different and im not inclined to throw things out right away.
The characters are growing on me. The concepts behind them and the situations that happen to them are becoming clearer.
I really do like the idea of the heavily made up daughter in a jihab ..... hilarious.
No more racist or unfunny than things like my big fat gypsy communion where the little girl goes to church dressed like a mini whore to be 'married' to God.
It's all human life.
I think this programme could work some way to actually breaking down stereotypes. |

Top Gear, Spooks, Mock The Week and everything with Attenborough in it. That's mostly the best the BBC has to offer. Even as a sports lover, their coverage tends to be nauseating. Everything else is tripe.

This program and BBC really have hit low bottom.
If you look at the setting, décor, clothes etc you would think this is a comedy from the 70's.
Very unfunny gags and no humour.
Comedy should be the universal language of laughter, which everyone should be able to refer to and laugh and not localised to specific cultures. Just my thought |

i found goodness gracious me absolutely hilarious, so gave this a more than generous chance, but im afraid, a lot like a fair amount of BBC comedies, it falls way short of acceptable. |

LMFAO! Pure class and well said. LOL
It's not comedy, just a waste of time and money which could be spent on better projects. We don't want to know about Khan's caravan. |
