My aunt was once held captive in the toilet by a huuuuuge concrete spider...honest.

It sat in front of the door and moved to match my aunts movements....

she screamed for my uncle and he comes running and opens the door and

splat !!! end of spider

An old friend (south african) used to live in the traansvaal...

While playing around the vines (he was 5) his foot went down a hole and when he pulled it out...It was stuck in the middle of a huuuuuge spider (cant remember the type)

It looked like a novelty slipper

How did he not die from heart failure?

Got out of the shower, wrapped the towel round me and a huge house spider was on my tit! I fell backwards and cracked my head on the tiles.

I'm trying to decide whether I should feel sorry for you because you hurt yourself, laugh because I like slapstick comedy or high five the spider for having a ride on your boobs!

Peterborough

I wasn't keen on them until I worked with tarantulas

They are so fragile

Worked with ones the size of a dinner plate

One of those horrible ones with the little round bodies and long legs that you get in the house I'm still off lol

As with many things in life, size matters. I have no fear of the things up to a couple of inches across and come across them all the time in lofts and under floors (electrician), where my attitude is live and let live, but if faced by something both substantial and potentially dangerous, that may be different!

That's it then shotgun at the ready if they are that bloody big, I'd better stock up on cartridges ready for the attack of the giant spiders.

what about that story about someone buying bananas that has spiders in, without knowing of course, and note they're house is infested with them. I won't be buying bananas for a while
