Are they two very different communities? I have only dipped my toe in the chat for a few minutes. Didn't find it was cup of tea for some reason, as well as not being able to write txt spk qkly enuf |

The very thought of going into chat scares the hell out of me.
to fast and to many people and no control.
At least with this i can write at a reasonable pace .  |

ive been in chat a few times
the bord moves too quick for me to keep up and there are half a dozen covos going on
and nobody spoke to me 
even when i said hi a few times 
so i thought here is better
at least like peaches i can type at me own pace
and peeps say hi to me |

The sensation i had was a bit like being used to shopping in a nice town high street with lots of independent shops then finding yourself at a massive shopping centre with everyone dashing round. Crap analogy I know  |

I used to chat in chatrooms a few years ago, however, much has changed since then, and I seldom venture into chatrooms anymore.
Forums suit me better nowadays.  |

herlloooooo peeps, I'm just taking a breather from scots chat room the now..... spent the last couple of hours doing a pop quiz, it is fun and it means the two mods larry n lil who initiated it included all comers in the room, seasoned swingers and newbies... we all had a hoot! |

Sounds good Laine but when I peeped in it was 36 conversations at once, mostly of the "show us yer tits" variety - although that was the directing room of course. |

I think as laine has said... in the scottish rooms and the scottish chatrooms I don't think there is a us vs them attitude at all.... which is so nice to see, especially when it then comes to going to socials....
that why I spend a lot of my time there... 
I know... a fan of all things scottish!!! lol |

We like both but chat is too fast for me and Lou can type faster in there but you should try chat if you havent. |

Hi there sorry I never got back to you last night, chat was fun then I dozed off after the quizzes They exhausted me.... I couldn't type fast enough to be in the major points league but my fingers were flying over the keys...... great as I'm trying not to smoke (2 weeks now peaches!) |

I went in the the scotland room once when they had thei quiz night,could'nt understand a word they were saying
so ran away then got a message from someone saying OI you I just said hello in there and you ignored me

majority of comments are exactly what i think... 2 fast, getting ignored knocks one's confidence, and hard to follow just one coversation.... everyone says hi to everyone else but then i'm totally out of my depth...give me the forum anyday, can choose the pace and can read back what you missed... sorry chatters but we all can't be wrong can we???

I found it ok, a few things I said went unnoticed, or ignored, but I guess that's because those in chat at the time are more familiar with one another than they are me, a bit like the forums if we're honest, it can take a good few posts until one starts to get a response.
I found it ok to be honest, I did get some response, even when I popped in a little of my humour.
Secret is, when in chat, don't be a shrinking violet (or whatever the term), get involved where you can. |

You are correct Mr Loon.
As in many aspects of life, people are initially polite... Hi hello etc. then back away again to allow the real you to come forward, whether in the chatrooms, the forums, trains, queues etc. And come forward you must at your own pace, it has been likened to going to your local pub or shops... initial politeness followed by genuine wishes to get to know you leading to friendships formed, irrespective of where you are such is the way of it all.
If you are a wall flower you will be overlooked and outshone by those more flamboyant but don't let that put you off..... persistence in forums and chat pays off. |

We use a another site for the chat - as we are new to this one and new software takes some getting used to
But our take on it... forums and chat brings in traffic to your profile
However we end up thinking of chat "friends" as vanilla and don't think about them in a swinging way |
