The land of grey peas and bacon

My mum said to me learn how to cook because you don't want your man going else where for his dinner....I love cooking and can knock up dishes and not had any complains and I make a nice savoury cheesecake

oh.... i thought it was an intimate affair

i like chicken breasts stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in streaky bacon served with fresh veg.

starter could be a simple mozeralla, parma ham and pea salad on a bed of watercress with balsamic vinegar drizzled on top (had ths saturday and its yummy)

for pudding just a big platter of fresh fruit with dark chocolate grated over the top that people can help themsleves to at their own leisure

Or get a whole salmon get it boned etc and cut in half make a salmon paste with smoked salmon and cream cheese and chives out that on top of fish with salt and pepper and lemon juice...then wilt some spinach and place that on top cover with puff pastry brush with egg....then you have sal on en croute

I agree, keep it simple. If you've enough room in the oven, you could do soup on the hob as a first course, cottage pie/chilli con carne for the carnivores, and the same for the herbivores using quorn mince, just don't get it mixed up!

Cheesecake made the day before from the fridge with a cheese board for those who can't eat dessert (I'm diabetic). Most of these can be prepared/cooked the day before to reheat/serve the next day.

Just be sure to find out how many/ whose veggie and if anyone has special dietary needs!

I'm not a good cook. I'm not really interested in cooking so I don't try.

I can cook simple traditional food and I seem to be ok at cake making. I wouldn't try anything elaborate. Saying that I wouldn't buy things like fish cakes or beef burgers, scones, spaghetti bolognaise etc, I make them myself.
