Inspired from a response in another thread i'm just curious which people value/celebrate more, Christmas or Birthday?
I personally see birthdays as more of an occassion, but i could be in the minority on this one..

They're totally different. Birthday weeks are all about me and celebrating the glory that I bring go your lives by being alive.
Christmas is about family, sharing time together and appreciating what we have.
Obviously this is my personal view and I know that not all families are the same and some value the distance between them rather than the reality of being together. |

Birthdays growing up for me meant nothing - haven't had one celebrated since I was about 6! - so the main event is Christmas for our family, but I do celebrate my kids with seeing family etc, cake, presents . . . once in big school i'll start doing parties
Hoping my next birthday (25th) wont be as crappy as the previous years, didn't even have anything for my 18th! |

"My birthday is Christmas Eve Eve (23rd), it has always been swallowed up by Christmas. I would like to have a non festive night out one year."
Just change the date you celebrate it to June! Our birthday events always last a week not one day. Pressies, lunches out, trips, party etc. |

Birthday is Christmas Eve so is often a non-event. Hate the crass commercialism of Christmas and resent that it overshadows my birthday. Both are occasions that only serve to highlight that I haven't spoken to my family for years.
Bah humbug and all that |

I hate it when people suggest that. Forgive me for wanting to celebrate on the day when I was born and not on some random date.

My (f) birthday is in two weeks and in the last couple of years my ways of celebrating have changed. I believe I have a surprise planned for my birthday which will be revealed on the day. Then at the weekend am off to Brugge to the ice sculptures and Christmas Markets, which sort of combine Birthday and Christmas.
Christmas now is not as much fun as it was before my Mum died. Then all the family got together at Mums and in later years mine. Mum was the glue that held the family together and since then, Christmas Day is just another day, other than the traditional Christmas mea.
I do tend to make more of birthdays than Christmas

Our daughter's birthday is on December 19th. So she badically has a double celebration.
Christmas is nicest though. Love all the festive films and sense of occasion. |

I'm in a similar boat, always arranged going out for tea for my Mums but she has never done sod all for me. Wouldn't even pop to get me pizza hut one year. This year I spent it with a man I was dating, he ruined it by being a miserable sod.
So for me it is Christmas.... |
