Should photo-verification be compulsory?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

We've been on this site for a while and have met many great people both single and couples. But we have also come across lots of fakes. Amazing how many women are suddenly busy when the female half wants to chat on phone to prove they're genuine lol. I know its not a perfect system but photo verification at least proves you are a couple, not a single male faking it. What do you guys and gals think?

We never even look to be honest, about as much use as a cam one....we've never felt the need to do it ourselves and if people don't trust our verifications by meeting because we haven't held up a piece of paper so be it...

No. We're not photo verified and no intention of ever doing so. To be honest I wouldn't want to meet someone who can't tell that we are genuine without being photo verified.

You've been verified by others which is just the same really, its just confirming that you are who you say you are which is great. If a profile has one or the other or both we're more likely to trust those people. It's when you get couples profiles that have been online for over a year, with no verifications of either type trying to become friends, you just start to think they're just there to perv your photos lol.

no it shouldn't be compulsory, but its worth doing I think. When I first joined and had no veris, I think it was important I was photo verified. I prefer to see meet verifications on peoples profiles though.

The difficulty is the majority do not make this aspect of their lives public and if you are new to the site placing your identity in the hands of a strangers (i.e. the site owners) is a big ask and big no go I suspect.

Just so as to be clear, we all know the site owners are responsible people but that's only from being on the site and gaining such experience

Here and there

This kind of thread always gets this kind of response, usually from couples which have been on the site for years and have loads of meet veri's. This doesn't really apply to you! No one doubts you are real.

This is about new profiles with no veri's, be it meet, cam or whatever.

I'm not sure whether compulsory photo veri's are the answer to stopping fake profiles but I do think that maybe new profiles should have some restrictions until they are verified one way or the other. Like not being able to initiate conversations, that would help reduce the spam messages and harassment that single fems and couples get from new single male profiles.

How would a guy being photo verified stop him from spamming and harassing me?

I have blocked new profiles. People can also block non-verified profiles. Much simpler.

I never got photo verified for this very reason. Now I have meet veries I see no point as they are in my opinion better.

I would never meet anyone on this site for several months with none at all as that screams fake or a reason there are no meet veries and I don't want to know the reason

No, I think everyone should have a choice.

Using mail filters mean you will probably never have to speak to unverified people.

It wouldn't necessarily but it would remove the anonymity aspect of it. Also, if they weren't allowed to initiate conversations then you wouldn't get any messages from them unless you sent one first, so it would act just like your newbie filter.

Maybe as a twist to this then is, if a person hasn't any meet veri's after set amount of months, should they then get photo verified?

But people can choose not to show their photo verification, so I still wouldn't know if its 'them'. They could get any old geezer off the street to hold their piece of card.

To be honest, I tend to only meet men who have sent me a face pic and a decent message. My own filters come into play with other messages, and I trust that more than a green flag.

How about people get to do their own thing, within the rules, and if their thing isn't someone else's thing- they walk on by.

I don't think it should be compulsory, but it something I think is beneficial if you're struggling to get that first meet. My FB and I are considering it on our couples profile because it benefited him on his single profile when he started out, but it's not something I ever got round to on my profile and after a few meet veri's it didn't seem worth it

We look for it but don't pay much attention as it is a few recent meets by veri we look for.

A photo only veri wouldn't get a reply of interest from us

You're right, most people don't show it. In fact, on the mobile site I can't even find the option to show mine. I mostly meant that the site would then have a record so if the same person kept trying to set up new accounts they could easily be discovered. As for asking a stranger to hold up a card saying "FabSwingers, some username and a date" I'm not sure how many people would resort to that, I think Photoshop would be the first port of call.

I think anything to try and make it more difficult for fakes to set up a profile in the first place is a good idea, rather than trying to deal with them once they are already on here.

In all fairness if you have exchanged messages with someone and then meet for a social with the couple what difference does a piece of paper make?

We met a lovely couple with no verifications, if we took the attitude that they weren't verified so we wont meet them then we would have missed a good night.

We did speak to both parties on the phone and then had a local meet to ascertain genuine. Then we met at their home for a play date.

We all start with nothing, someone has to give them a chance

I totally agree, we ourselves have meet several "newbies" both with and without verifications and had fantastic times, but we have chatted on the phone before meeting like yourself. It's when you get the fakes saying the wife is to busy to chat etc etc, just wastes peoples time and effort.

Never heard so much bollicks, what does having photo verified prove, it certainly does not prove your genuine, as some said you can always fake a pick

And to be honest I can actually day I haven't even noticed if the people we have met have been pic veried!

Its a good start for sure.

Theirs always the chat rooms to help get a webcam versification also.

From there I guess a versification in person on a meet is idea if lucky enough.

No. I don't think it should be compulsory.

I do think some restrictions on new profiles until veri's are on, is a good idea though. Newbies cant post on the forums for a week so other restrictions shouldn't be too hard to implement

I don't think anything on here should be compulsory, it should be upto you if you want to have verifications, show them or put pic's up, not everyone wants to have pics on here and surely by making pic verification compulsory your forcing people to show pic's

If you don't get a good feel for someone just move on

it's not difficult is it?

Too many people think that photo verification is the answer without looking at their own shortcomings in their selection criteria.

Anyone determined to 'waste time' will do the required to be able to.

So if that means holding a piece of paper for a full length nude shot, they will.

What will the next suggestion be, once it is established 'time wasters' get photo verified?

Nope - can't see what it adds, to be honest. Have no intention of photo verifying ourselves and pay no credence to it on anyone else's profile. We have 'met in person' veris - that's proof enough for anyone we're real. Photo veris are about as worthwhile as cam veris in my opinion

Hmmm we are not photo verified, we are meet verified as I remember we couldn't post on the forums without being verified, and we have set filters to stop unverified people contacting us (which anyone can do).

reason we are not photo verified is we feel it's not valid, give me any picture of any couple and 30 seconds in photoshop and I can make the required picture, give me 60 seconds and the picture could have been taken on our last trip to the moon, mars or anywhere else we can grab a pic of from the net.

Best advice to all and any new comers is get to a social, or club find other fab members and get them to verify you as real people. Apparently even that is not hack proof but it is still the best method.
