Let's stop this now... The MPs didnt decide to the pay increase, it was The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority. All they did was agree to it.
Its like your boss saying do you want a pay increase?
Saying that I don't like it either as MPs are useless, but facts are facts. |

The forum is a political hotbed this afternoon
It's not good is it. I've not had a payrise in years and I'm not moaning. In fact I moved jobs to be happier and took a pay cut.
Greed. |

IPSA was created to deal with this issue following the expenses scandal. The original suggestion was closer to 22% increase and rolling expenses into that. That was rejected and the compromise suggestion is for MPs to get 11% increase and keep the expenses as they are. Cameron has to sign this off in a week or two doesn't he?

The total expenses bill has been £23 million for the last accounted year - including a claim of over £5000 for electricity and heating costs. 41 MPs claimed over £1000, another 78 over £500 for gas and electric - maybe we should send them a thick jumper.
"We're all in this together" - my arse. |

They could of course have declined n said in view of the economic climate and that many are struggling they would be prepared to accept 1% above inflation pay rise |
