I was going to meet someone of here until I found out he had a stutter

I asked him to ring me for a chat and he confessed he had a stutter

Is it mean of me not to meet him because he has a stutter ?

secondly i understand the comment about doing nothing for the guys confidence however the OP is not on here to boost other people's confidence is she?

I wouldn't cancel a meet with someone because of a stutter. Poor bloke prob has had his confidence knocked a bit.

That being said everyone has the right to meet who they want so it's your choice. Just not a choice I would of made. And if I had made that choice I prob wouldn't of told him that was the reason and made another excuse

O p turn it round a minute lets assume a problem you may have that embarasses you is a cause for a meet to be cancelled i doubt you will feel good about yourself.

If the stutter is only reason then i think its pathetic and as others say his confidence maybe affected but he had lucky escape

indeed.

If this had been bloke doing it the abuse he would get is lot more than you just because you female does not excuse how you treated the chap.

"From the facts presented, I think it was pretty damn mean myself.

I think discussing it on the forum will not make him feel any better, either, even if we don't know who he is, he'll now know what broke the meet.

However, considering your posts in the forum on various topics, I'd be inclined to shake his hand after a near scrape of meeting you.

If this was a single guy talking about meeting a girl with a stutter would it change anyone's response? "

Is a stutter classed as a disability?

Over weight isnt.

I think there is a difference between the two.

I dont think its cruel to chose not to meet for whatever reason, but I think its bang out of order for you to create a thread about it 18 months later, you could of watched 'Loose Women' instead, probably more worthwhile for you.

He doesn't need someone pointing out something that has probably bothered him everyday of his life when there will be far more patient and understanding women on here who wouldn't be rude enough to try to finish a sentence that he is more than capable of finishing in his own time

I thought this might be a serious thread about speech impediments and treatments, such as the Michael Palin Stammer Centre.

My personal experience of people with speech impediments is that their minds are working so fast their mouth can't keep up. Some of the most interesting people I know have or have had a speech impediment.

I don't give a toss what the OP does.

Yes but spmetimes in life, whilst its not nice, it can be good for people to show their true colours early doors, that way you know who to avoid.

All you need to do is love your son and give him confidence and knowledge to know how to deal with people like that. If he knows THEY are in the wrong hopefully he'll use that strength to ignore or stand up to them.

The transition is difficult but with the right support it doesn't have to be a bad experience and it doesn't have to be permanent.

"I thought this might be a serious thread about speech impediments and treatments, such as the Michael Palin Stammer Centre.

My personal experience of people with speech impediments is that their minds are working so fast their mouth can't keep up. Some of the most interesting people I know have or have had a speech impediment.

I don't give a toss what the OP does.

did you see that on teaching yorkshire, or whatever its called, with the asian lad with the bad stammer?

very very good.

No, I just know people with speech impediments and someone close to me is following the Stammer Centre programme, with great effect.

cant remember when it was from, but this kid could hardly speak.

the teacher used the film the kings speech as inspiration and used listening to music to help this kid speak in front of the class.

brilliant.

i watched it the other night and it was an amazing moment!!

Others have told me to watch it. What a difference a bit of patience, encouragement and treatment can make?"

just goes to show that, if a teacher actually WANTS to help the kids in their charge, it doesnt matter what a governer/mp or whoever says.

nothing is better than a truly inspirational person to change a childs life

wakefield

To be totally honest im not sure if I could meet someone who has a stutter, its not that I think theres anything wrong with that person its just I think I would be embaresed and not know how to deal with it. A guy at work has one and hes a lovely charming guy but I find I have a nervous laugh around him. My opinion is the problem would lay with me not the person with the speech problem.

Takes a lot to make me cry, but that teacher reduced me to tears. A truly inspirational man, as are all the staff at that school. Fuck, I would do detention with the head!!

"I was going to meet someone of here until I found out he had a stutter

I asked him to ring me for a chat and he confessed he had a stutter

Is it mean of me not to meet him because he has a stutter ? "

Why would having a stutter make any difference? If a woman had a stutter, I'd like her more and she would probably appreciate some extra confidence.

Seems a bit h-h-h-harsh to me but hey ho.

Maybe add to your profile that you won't meet people with speech impediments as you seem to attract them?!

It was a long time before I knew what it meant and I was struggling with how to pronounce your name.

"What's done is done. If his stutter made you uncomfortable, then it made you uncomfortable.

Thank you

See the lynch mob are in force again sob sob "

You continually post what you know will be provocative threads and then complain about people who don't agree with you.

I am sure this is exactly what you are after so why you feign surprise I am not sure.
