If you like jar jar binks you're not a Star Wars anything! Episodes 1-3 don't really count.

starwars while great, is merely a space western
startrek (and lets just admit the next generation is the BEST!)-reason? actually working with science, it opened my mind to the world around us, the concept of time and space, the complexity of everything thats taken for granted.
best character: commander Data
An amazing character, not just because he's an android, more because it asks profound questions about humanity itself and our own possible evolution |

Star Wars, and it HAS to be Vader. Love his shiny helmet.
Star Trek is a okay, but it has to be the original, with Kirk...he's...just...such a...weird actor. |

I like comedy in movies too but as someone pointed out Star Wars is essentially a western. Episodes 1-3 were just too childish, let's hope JJ Abrahms does as good a job with the new ones as he has with the new Trek movies. |

I've been watching Star Trek since about 1968. Spock was my first love and I had his poster under my desk lid at school when others had Donny and David Cassidy. I am and always will be a great fan. I am a geek! |

I recommend any scifi lovers watch the short but brilliant series, Firefly..then watch the highly acclaimed film made from it, Serenity
its not too heavy on the tech |

I think it's fair to say that Star Trek is equally as guilty of taking things for granted. Just because something has a slightly more rooted grasp of real science doesn't make it more entertaining. It just sets itself more tighter boundaries with wich it can operate. not the best idea for science FICTION. |

I have thought about this question all evening and can't decide. I had a crush on Luke when I was young and Ryker later on in life. I like the fact that nothing is fact on either and as I am an alien you can understand why I love both....for information only: I hate westerns |

"Didn't Star Trek actually make a Western episode?"
Yes, I hated it. And in an episode of Star Trek The Next Generation they have a gunfight in a holodeck scenario..didn't like that either |

Clint Eastwood never used a phaser or a lightsabre. He didn't have to, westerns are a fantastic genre, but even they borrow from other stories. I fail to see how Star Wars being structured, fairly loosely, like a western makes it any less appealing than Star Trek, which is just as guilty, just a bit better at covering it up (the later series's anyway). Doesn't anyone find The Next Generation a little bit, po-faced and any humour that is written in, fails miserably? |

my hatred for westerns is more about the style of clothing, the way they speak and the music in them than the storylines. I should say I hate most westerns I saw as a child or teenager. Not a fan of Eastwood or Wayne but there were some dubbed spaghetti westerns we used to watch that were funny starring 2 men. One big with dark hair and one with blonde hair |

Star Wars
Either R2D2 or Wedge.
Wedge helped destroy TWO Death Stars and didnt need a hokey religion to help him. What a pilot.
However, I loved R2 and his little R-friends do its Dusty Bins high tech cousin for me |
