I ask to see the dessert menu first before I decide on what to have.
If a dessert tickles my fancy, then I would opt for 2 starters.
Otherwise, I would go for a starter and a main.
Unless I am pushing the boat out, then it will be 4 courses including cheese before dessert.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
That's difficult I like pud (as you can tell) but I like starters too.
If the starters include things like scallops or crab then I'd go for that over pud. If there are lots of starters I like then I'll have two and no main course.
At my favourite restaurant I like all three though. |

"Got to be a propper pudding wi custard, non of these oyty toyty sweets
Got to be a man size portion as well "
Pudding but proper big portions of all.
Can't stand arty farty little portions on a huge plate with a swag of violet and raspberry coulis draped across the honey glazed baby carrot julienne a la mode.

Ooh yeah! A whole apple pie with a bucket of custard. And you have to unzip your trousers to let your gut hang out. |

"Pudding
There is ALWAYS room for pudding, I think I have a separate pudding stomach."
A friend's son described it as his pudding door. He was three at the time and said he was full up of dinner but he'd be able to have pudding when he opened the pudding door.

No, not even a fart. The boys use it as well.

Its got to be a starter...its the chance to try new things, so you can order that juicy steak without guilt at not trying the other main courses that sound nice but may not give you the same pleasure as the steak...well thats my take on it anyway. If there's room left, THEN its a pudding...lol. |

Somewhere in North Norfolk |
Ideally both but I can't usually manage both
It depends on my mood, and on the menu, which I choose.
Depending upon whom I am with, sometimes I'll share a starter and a dessert with them. |
